Thursday 7-26-00

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by reading a few e-mails and message board posts. The gang talked about the Concord crash over in France and the police officer who shot the unarmed man. An actual Omaha officer called TnT to talk about the situation. He wouldn’t go into any detail but wanted everyone to know that we shouldn’t be judging the officer until the whole thing goes into court. The officer also talked about how the media has twisted the story. A few people who know the officer called in to try to defend him by saying what a good guy he was. One man also made reference to the remorse he feels for the family of the deceased. On a lighter note, TnT joked about how the local news tried to put a football spin on the police officer’s story by saying he played in high school. They even did a live shot from the officer’s old high school football field.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today. He commented on how much he liked TnT’s new CD and then did a commentary on how Radio Shack makes you fill out forms every time you purchase something from them.

Lisa will be gone for the rest of the week so the guys had more Lisa-related tributes for her today. A lovely poem by Doug from down the street was recited, the guys played several famed Lisa audio clips to reminisce and they called Lisa’s mom once again. Lisa’s mom said she would come up on the official last day, August 7th. She didn’t seem to be looking forward to Lisa getting her tattoo touched up.

The guys made some random calls to Columbus today to try to promote tomorrow night’s visit of the Mobile Homers. Many of the calls early in the show didn’t get picked up. When they got a hold of someone, she was a grumpy, old confused lady who didn’t know what they were talking about. Because of one of Lisa’s earlier stories about a guy who scammed a couple of old women out of 30k, the guys jokingly demanded that the old woman give them her credit card number. She promptly hung up. After that, the spent a little time making similar phone calls to old sounding ladies in the phone book. After 8am, they resorted to calling a business. TnT called the Rose Bud hotel in Columbus and Sally answered the phone. Sally was a spunky lady. She wouldn’t tell TnT her age, seemed to play along incredibly well with TnT and was quite surprised when Todd and Tyler called her a second time later in the show just because she was fun to talk to.

A guy named Mike from the Buy.com golf tournament (formerly the Nike one, I believe) came in this morning to talk about this year’s event. Mike mentioned that they’re looking for beer garden volunteers this year and anyone interested can call 329-4979.

Big Pussy and Barb the Prize Lady went to 72nd and Dodge today to let listeners try to “Get lucky with Pussy”. The idea was for listeners to toss in 4 fruits into Big Pussy’s pants and try to guess which fruit popped out of the whole cut in his ass first. A good number of listeners stopped by to play Hose-A-Pussy and all the participants walked away with various prizes and tickets to see Lover Boy (I believe). Barb also got to drive some sort of heavy machinery called a “loader”.

At one point in today’s show, the guys got a call from a snotty, potty mouth, begging 11-year-old girl who wanted them to give her Birthday Bash tickets. Her mom or dad put her up to it because you could hear her mom talking to the girl in the background. Her dad also called in to the show to complain that they had to pay for tickets for the bratty kid. The guys gave the little girl a hard time and then got rid of her. Later, however, the girl called back in. At that time, TnT had Lisa’s mom on the phone and had her scold the loudmouth little swearer. After that, the show pretty much turned into a verbal slaughterhouse of the girl and her allegedly crank head parents.

Brian Houston will be coming in for Travis and Lisa tomorrow. The guys will probably promote the Mobile Homers stop tomorrow night in Columbus. TnT will also be airing the second and final part of Running Character Survivor so stay tuned for that.
