TnT Show 08-12-1999

Thursday 8-12-99

Todd and Tyler started off today’s show by professing their love for the town of Wahoo. The found out that Birthday Bash tickets were being sold at the Burger King there and decided they’d send someone out there to help raise interest. TnT declared today “Be nice to Wahoo day” but they spent a good portion of the morning making fun of the town. Theresa Cassidy, the Lancer loving Kid’s Club host, went to the Wahoo Burger King with Barb the Prize Lady. They spent a couple of hours taking orders, trying to sell tickets and getting people to talk to TnT on the air. Most of the people there were old and didn’t want to talk to TnT. Theresa was able to get one group of old guys, obviously using the Burger King as their wind tunnel to speak with TnT. They were completely out of it (as old guys sometimes are). A few teenagers were there as well and were more eager to speak to TnT. One of them even had a Birthday Bash ticket already. Towards the end of the Wahoo visit, Theresa was able to get a Wahoo police department detective on the phone. His name was Chuck and he seemed pretty cool. TnT asked him about the decline in the amount of “found not to be intoxicated” reports coming from the Wahoo newspaper. He didn’t know much about that. Then he started defending the Wahoo police saying something to the effect of “Wouldn’t you want someone checked out if you thought they were driving drunk?” TnT saw some logic to his point but then moved on to more fun topics.

Lisa Volinec came in again this morning and read the news for TnT. She’s been a pretty steady bootie call all this week. She seemed to be a bit upset at the constant Wahoo check-in interruptions in her news casts and jumped all over Tyler for accidentally saying that Lisa was in Wahoo instead of Theresa. Lisa did brighten up (momentarily) when Dodge County Duke checked in and called her “doll face”, though. She didn’t bother to stay for the whole show today like she did yesterday. She bailed after the final news cast was finished. I’m not sure if she’ll be back tomorrow so tune in and find out.

The guys spent a little time early in the show discussing stapled stomachs. The fat girl in Wilson Phillips recently got her stomach stapled over an Internet broadcast operation. TnT took some calls from listeners who had their own stomach staple stories. Some were tales of surgeries gone wrong; others were stories about success. The topic died out when TnT decided to play an interview.

Yesterday TnT spoke to and recorded a conversation with Birthday Bash artist Joe Walsh. Yes, life’s been good to him so far. They talked about his past musical career and what he’s doing now. They discussed the lineup for this year’s Birthday Bash with Joe. He said he was friends with Paul Rodgers and has run into Sammy Hagar a few times. He is excited about the show and is looking forward to Saturday. Joe did seem a bit whacked out but I think everyone who heard the interview understands why. It was a cool interview and you can probably catch the replay on the Best Of shows run on Saturday mornings.

With the talk about the Birthday Bash came a discussion about publicly exposed breasts. TnT mentioned that they didn’t think it was a big deal for young guys to see breasts exposed at a concert like the Bash. Todd’s own son saw his first real breast while attending a concert. Shortly after the discussion, a mad message boarder posted some garbage about how evil TnT were for wanting to expose children to nudity. Somehow the listener threw child pornography into the mix. TnT read the post and then slammed the guy for misunderstanding what they meant. They then said that the Birthday Bash is a fine place to bring kids to. It’s actually a family event with things for children and adults to enjoy. If you’ve got kids, don’t freak out about the Birthday Bash. Bring them with you. It’s a fun time for all!

Driven came in studio this morning and played a few songs for TnT. They’ll be opening up the Birthday Bash Saturday morning. They’ll be on stage around 10:30am so make sure you’re there for the gate opening at 10 in order to see them. They sounded really good this morning and are very excited about the Birthday Bash. Get there early to see them, they’re a great band.

TnT spoke to former NFL player Deeken Jones today. He coined the phrase “sack” back in his days and it’s been used ever sense. As a matter of fact, he’d have the all time sack record if they’d been keeping track of such things that far back. They talked about his NFL days, the state of football and other sports today and then moved on to discussing his new TV show “G Vs. E” in which he’s the narrator of. It was a pretty interesting interview and it was nice to hear that he thinks athletes today are a bunch of wimps who’s only concern is money.

Sheryl Underwood from the http://www.funnyboneomaha.com” target=blank>Funny Bone came in today. She brought another comedian along with her but I didn’t catch his name. Sheryl wouldn’t shut her mouth long enough for me to hear him. She was pretty wild once she got in studio. Even TnT had to tell her to shut the hell up a few times. It was made pretty clear that Sheryl’s a horn ball and that her act is definitely for adults only. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 to make reservations for the show. It should be quite funny.

Well, that’s today’s update. Check back here tomorrow for the Friday version. Thanks for watching. Good night. –the Alien Guy-
