TnT Show 08-16-1999

Monday 8-16-99

Today’s Todd and Tyler show was full of talk about Saturday’s Birthday Bash. TnT shared their stories with the listeners and took calls from people who went to the event. We found out that Todd passed out in the Chub during Sammy Hagar’s performance. He missed about 40 minutes of the show. The Z staff had to shake the bus to wake him back up. Todd blamed the tequila he was drinking but Donnie said he drank even more of it than Todd and he didn’t pass out. Tyler somehow got a huge cut on his leg and because he’d drank so much beer that day, “the blood had a head on it”. They talked about the bands and how cool everyone was…all except for the bass player for Paul Rodgers. I can’t remember the guy’s name but he jumped all over one of the Z staff for “announcing the band” when all he really did was tell the audience that Paul Rodgers would be next. The guys took countless calls from listeners who attended. All of them thanked Z-92 for putting on the show and most of them had some interesting crowd stories to share. There were many tales about publicly exposed breasts, a topic that interested TnT very much. Other callers told the guys about seeing people urinating and vomiting. It would seem that some of the listeners in attendance didn’t take the host’s advice and “pace” themselves. But then again, the hosts really didn’t pace themselves very well either.

TnT were very glad to hear that everyone had fun. There wasn’t much trouble at the Bash, very few arrests were made and everyone seemed to be well behaved. Unfortunately, some jerkoff thought it would be a good idea to break out a few windows in the parking area and steal purses but other than that, there wasn’t much trouble at all. Todd and Tyler, as well as the rest of the Z-92 staff would like to thank everyone who attended the event. They’ll be putting on another Birthday Bash next year and hope to see you all there.

Due to a little miscommunication between Donnie and Lisa Volinec, Todd and Tyler were without a newsperson today. They decided to go back in the archives and pulled a tape of the only real newsperson they’d ever had, Craig Evans. They played the tape, which referenced some blood found on the OJ crime scene and some other 5-year-old references. It was pretty funny and, oddly, fit right into the show.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and gave a commentary on a 300 pound + fat guy suing an airline because his huge ass cheeks couldn’t squeeze into the plane’s seat. The commentary wasn’t very humorous today. Just to give you an idea of how bad it was, TnT laughed harder at one of Donnie’s Pope calls than they did at Larry. Hopefully he’ll call in again later this week with something a little funnier.

This morning was Todd and Tyler’s 6-year anniversary at Z-92! They didn’t dwell on the anniversary for long but felt that they’d mention it anyway. A morning show lasting 6 years in this town and remaining at the top for so long is quite an accomplishment in any city.

The guys got a call from Brad Stephens today. He’s going to be leaving Channel 7 for a FOX anchorman gig in Orlando, Florida soon. His last day will be Thursday so he figured he’d give TnT a call to say goodbye. TnT chatted with him about the new job and his time at Channel 7 and then wished him well in Orlando.

The guys spent a little time talking about a letter in the Morons from the Grand Stand section of the paper. The letter was talking about the quarterback controversy at UNL. It basically made reference to Bobby Newcombe being a little less intelligent than the white quarterback, Eric Crouch. It was obviously racially motivated and it disgusted TnT. They joked about the author of the article being one of the same ladies who “shhhhh”ed them at the Nike Omaha Classic Golf Tournament and spent some time ragging on her for being mentally stuck in 1843.

It was a great show today and everyone seemed very pleased with the Birthday Bash. I’m sure there will be more talk about the concert tomorrow so tune in. Also, check back here for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –the Alien Guy-
