Flash Back Day!

Todd and Tyler started of their show this morning by welcoming Craig Evans back to the news chair. Craig used to do the news for them when they first got to town but after a year or two, he was let go. Craig didn’t seem too interested in doing the news for TnT. I don’t know if it was just his attitude towards the job or if that’s the way Craig always was. Unfortunately, I wasn’t listening to radio when Craig was working with the guys back in 1994-95. The guys did rally, however, for Craig to return as their full time news guy. TnT’s former producer/thumping boy Beastmaster made an appearance on the show this morning for the first time in about 2 years. Also joining the show today were Todd and Tyler’s old interns Jennie and Aaron.

Nearly the entire show was spent discussing old memories of the various former cast members. Many listeners checked in with their fond memories as well. Todd and Tyler played a few clips from shows past which sparked even more memories for everyone. All who were in studio today interjected their favorite moments as a part of the Todd and Tyler show. Beast talked about what he liked doing the most and the two interns discussed what they’re doing now, old boyfriends and ways that they avoided getting hit on by the Beast. It was very humorous.

As in the old days, Todd and Tyler came up with a clever way to abuse the Beast once again. After the discussion about Paul Rodger’s evil guitarist at the Birthday Bash and his horrible apparel, the guys decided they’d dress the Beast up and let the listeners abuse him. They created an Indian breastplate out of Fat Freddie Meat Snacks and strapped it to the Beast. They also had him put on a wig made of long, gray hair. Then Slave Boy Chris and Barb the Prize Lady followed Beast in the Exploding Toad down to 72nd and Dodge. Yes, Todd and Tyler were able to borrow the Toad back from the listener who’d won it so long ago. The Toad didn’t have any breaks but no one seemed to mind putting the Beast in danger by letting him drive it that way. Once they all arrived, listeners stopped by and heaved water balloons at the Beast. One listener even brought a paint ball gun (which seemed to horrify the Beast) and blasted him right through the chest plate drawing blood. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of hearing the Beast writhe in pain once again.

Later in the show Rick Setchel and TnT’s former news babe Emjay stopped in studio. Rick is still with the cluster but has been shuffled around to the various Journal entities over the past year or two. Emjay recently put in her 2 weeks notice so she’s no longer in radio but she is answering the phones at the station until her date of exit. There were several comments made about Emjay throwing staplers at Tyler but other than that, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The guys tried to get a hold of Emjay’s mom a few times but were unable to make a connection. I think Emjay, regardless of how much she hated working with TnT, really missed them and was happy to join them once again.

Today’s show was concluded by a nice sing-along of “Vehicle”. Todd, Tyler the Beast and Emjay all chimed in just like in the old days and putting on a stellar performance of the song. It was truly great to hear some of the old voices and share in memories and stories from the past few years. I know I enjoyed today’s show and I think TnT and all of their guests did as well.
