Monday 9-13-99

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show talking about the success of this year’s Rock-A-Thon. Omaha businesses and citizens raised more than $40,000 for Camp Caholo with the help of Z-92, the Funny Bone and everyone else who participated in the event. TnT were however, quite upset at the lack of coverage the benefit received. Z-92 was not mentioned in the World Herald or local TV. Even the news station (Channel Third) who did show up at the Funny Bone on Friday morning neglected to air anything about Z-92 or Todd and Tyler. They griped about it all morning long and rightfully so. Whenever the rock station or its “rock” morning show do anything good, it’s always swept under the rug. I think the guys are just getting sick of it.

The message boarders gave Travis plenty of love this morning. After he parted with his back hair on Friday, he single handedly raised $2,500 for the initial donation, $264 in the Funny Bone Friday morning to get his shoulders waxed as well and another $100 for the patches of rat pelt that were sold at the Rock Auction! Travis, the ~$3,000 man!

There was also a lot of talk today about the Huskers. TnT weren’t able to go to Lincoln for the game on Saturday because the Chub is still broken down. Instead they vegged out on the couch and watched the game on TV. There was some discussion about the QB controversy and which one did a better job. TnT are of the opinion that Husker fans should be happy they’ve got two good quarterbacks. A lot of teams would love to have that problem. They also talked to Lisa Volinec about her trip down to Lincoln and tried to find out if she snuck alcohol into the game.

Larry the Cable Guy called in this morning and gave TnT a commentary on football. Larry seems thrilled about the fact that the football season is now underway. “Beer, Funions and ‘Beaver Hunt’” is how he described his football watching setting. It was a very amusing commentary. Before TnT let Larry go, they talked a bit about Larry’s upcoming visit to Omaha. He’ll be at the Funny Bone in about 2 weeks and then will return again at the end of the year for a New Year’s Eve show.

TnT had a conversation with Tom Osborne today. Tom was promoting his new book called “Faith in the Game”. He joked with TnT about not titling it himself which led into a discussion about the naming of Tom Osborne field. They also touched on the quarterback controversy. Tom thought it was pretty stupid for Husker fans to be up in arms about it. Why should having two great players instead of just one upset fans? TnT talked to him about what he’s doing now in regards to football. Osborne said that he is not going to coach anymore unlike some of the Husker Fan rumors suggest. He said he is a college football junkie but likes being able to spend time with his family now. TnT brought up the speeding ticket that Tom received. Yea, the one all over the papers shortly after it happened. Tom seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about it, though. He was amazed at what the media will latch on to when they’re trying to dig for a story about the Huskers. Towards the end of the call Todd worked in fishing talk. Tyler had tried his hardest to keep fishing out of the conversation but Todd was determined to cast the line for TO to bite onto. So they briefly discussed trout fishing. It was a pretty interesting interview and I think Osborne liked talking with TnT about something other than the Huskers (which he has nothing to do with any more Husker fans…remember!?!) The interview will probably end up being played on one of the Saturday’s Best Of shows so you can catch it again in the future.

TnT had a conversation with Eric Turner from the band Warrant today. His call was about 2 hours late but TnT talked to him anyway. The conversation was pretty odd. Frankly, I don’t know why TnT talked to the guy. He wasn’t very interesting and he dropped the “your mom” card a couple of times. I guess the guys just felt like giving an old, washed up hair band who hasn’t done anything decent in nearly 10 years a second or two of air time to promote their show at the Ranch Bowl. Todd and Tyler will be back at Hooters tonight for the first Monday Night Football game of the year. That’s right, football is back and wrestling is gone! Stop on out to Hooters to watch the game, eat some great food, drink cheap beer and hang out with Todd and Tyler. It should be a great time and the guys hope to see you there.

P.S. I didn’t buy Travis’s back hair, I don’t want Travis’s back hair and seeing Travis’s back hair get ripped out by the waxing lady of doom made me physically ill. I don’t know how TnT got me confused with the person who bought the stuff at the Rock Auction. I wasn’t even at the Rock Auction.
