TnT Show 09-14-1999

Tuesday 9-14-99

Todd and Tyler started off today’s show by talking about last night’s Monday Night Football game at Hooters. They said they had a pretty good crowd and were happy to see some new faces. They also touched on the finger football competition that they had. Of all the contestants that participated, it was a woman who won the event. She took home a TV from NFM for her victory prize. The guys spent a little time talking about how the girl whooped up on all of the guys in the event. It was pretty amusing.

The main topic of this morning’s show revolved around interoffice love. I believe the topic came about because Todd was simply being nice to the new receptionist yesterday. He said something about her looking like a movie star and she made a reference to him being a longhair and using his “lines” somewhere else. Todd defended himself by saying he was just being nice and the conversation kind of morphed from that point on. The metamorphosis of the topic was due to discussion about Donnie and Caller 9’s situation. From what we can all tell Donnie hooked up with Caller 9 while she was working for the station. TnT called 9 to find out exactly how Donnie weaseled his way into her heart. It was a pretty amusing discussion. Caller 9 said that she’d been having problems and one day, Donnie called her back into the Jock Lounge. He told her she could talk to him about it and she did. From there, the infamous “Lunch?” phrase came up. Shortly afterwards, Donnie latched on to 9’s hooter while at the 1987 (Ranch Bowl). The rest is documented history.

There were quite a few listeners who wanted to tell similar stories. Some involved Diekmans in the bathroom, others had to do with short skirts and UPS drivers. The calls on the topic came in throughout the entire show. TnT were hoping that some of the calls would turn into trained counseling calls this morning but the listeners didn’t seem to need counseling. They just wanted to share their stories. It was a little surprising to me. With all the talk about interoffice love, I was sure there would be someone in need of trained counseling.

TnT took a call from Brad Stephens this morning. The former Omaha news guy is now living in Orlando and had his first night on the air last night with Orlando’s FOX affiliate. It didn’t take long for the conversation to turn into a discussion about the hurricanes approaching Florida. Brad spent about 10-15 minutes talking about the hurricane with Todd and Tyler. It was pretty interesting even though it has nothing to do with Nebraska. Brad told the guys about the panic mongers, plans for preparation, checking up on his soon-to-be new home and more. TnT asked Brad to call back with further reports as the situation worsens so we’ll probably hear from Brad again in the next few days.

The guys spent some time this morning trying to get calls from other states. They were curious to see exactly how many states they have listeners in. With their show being broadcast over the Internet now, it’s possible for anyone in the country, or the world for that matter, to pick up their show. After talking to people from Florida, California and many surrounding states, I believe the final tally for today was 12 states. They’ll probably continue trying to get listeners from other states to check in over the next few days so keep tuned in for the final count.

Huskers, Huskers, Huskers. Yes, Todd and Tyler spent a lot of time today talking about the friggin Huskers. Rumor has it that Diangelo Evans is going to quit the team so there was a lot of response about that. There was more talk about the quarterback controversy as well. The conversation lasted a very long time. I won’t detail all of the points of view, letting you know there was a good hour or two of Husker talk is good enough.

That’s it for the Tuesday update. Today’s show was great. Todd and Tyler did a fine job keeping listeners interested in the interoffice love topic and were able to bring out many funny tales from the audience. Make sure to tune in tomorrow from 5:30am until 10am for another installment of the Todd and Tyler show. If you happen to miss it, come back here tomorrow for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –the Alien Guy-
