TnT Show 08-31-2000

Thursday 8-31-00

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning talking about the Reader and some of it’s advertisements for gay dating phone lines. They decided they’d call one of the gay date lines named “Mega Phone” and place an add for some gay love. After spending about 20 incredibly funny minutes listening to the pre-recorded phone tree and placing their description and personal greeting, the guys got a playback of what they described themselves as. The basic visual breakdown of their self-description is that they’re a plump, 34-year-old Asian blonde who’s looking for a quickie and loves to party hard. They played back their recorded description all morning long. I haven’t heard today’s promo yet but I’m sure that’s what’s on it. I’m also sure you’ll be hearing their gay dating service self-description more tomorrow.

Version 3 came in studio and played a few funk tunes for Todd and Tyler. They sounded great. They’ll be playing at the Johnny on Friday from 5-7pm. Join TnT and the band for a Spikes tailgate party before the ballgame gets under way. It should be a good time and TnT look forward to seeing you all there.

Journalist Camille Kelly from the Reader came in this morning and talked to TnT about her cover article on the Husker football criminals of the past. She researched and wrote about all the trouble Husker players have gotten into with the law over the last century or so. The guys asked some details regarding cases they’ve heard of and let Camille tell them details about some they weren’t too familiar with. She stayed around for a while and joined in on the topics of the day but she didn’t have an incredible amount to say.

TnT spoke with Alison Weston today. She’s the former Papillion (I think) student volleyball player who’s now headed to Sidney, Australia to take part in the Olympics. She checked in from Colorado to talk about the Olympics, her preparation and the teams the USA will play starting in mid-September. TnT wished her luck and said they’d try to get in touch with her again once the Olympics actually begin.

Averal Carter from the Funny Bone came in this morning and hung out with TnT. He joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to have a good time. Averal will be opening up for J Medicine Hat at the Funny Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036 for information or reservations.

Steve from the Fish Heads stopped by the show today. He wanted to promote the Tommy Craft Memorial Tank Top Poker Run taking place in September. He detailed the benefit and talked about some of the things associated with the poker run. Steve will stop in closer to the event and give further details. I believe he mentioned the Fish Heads would be playing on September 16th so if you’re interested, stay tuned to TnT about a week before that date for more information.

The Pheromones came in studio towards the latter part of the show. They did a few songs for TnT and sounded great! I can honestly say that the Pheromones’ lead singer, who sounds incredibly gorgeous, might be able to rival the talent of Dawnette, formerly of Ivory Star, currently of Star 69 (of course, that’s just the opinion of one computer geek). You can catch the band playing at Boondockers on Friday and Saturday night. They also mentioned playing at a Toys For Tots event on Sunday but no location was given.

Tomorrow, the 2nd Annual Todd and Tyler Burnout Contest will take place at the 60th & Ames street Tires Plus at 7am. There’s going to be a bunch of necks there doing neck stuff with their neck buddies and neck cars. Chances are pretty high that I’ll be bombarded with cloudy, smoky photos of hotrods in action tomorrow afternoon so a few of the pics might end up on the web sight for your viewing pleasure. Medicine Hat might swing by tomorrow for a while as well. I’m really not sure what else is going on tomorrow. You’ll have to tune in and see for yourself. That’s all for the update today. Thanks for watching. Good night. –King Geek-
