TnT Show 09-12-2000

Tuesday 9-12-00

In the first newscast of the morning, Danny mentioned a house that had caught of fire because of a candle left burning in a cabinet. That story lead to a few phone calls from listeners who wanted to share their own fire accident stories. Both TnT relayed some of their own fire accident tales as well. Moreover, the news piece spawned a discussion over Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Tyler mentioned he used to burn candles and would run around and obsessively check to make sure they were put out. He also said he does the same thing with his locks. Todd described a few things he obsessively does as well. A few of the callers also chimed in on the discussion as the show went on.

TnT talked about an article in the Reader that listed some strange and embarrassing sexually related stories from local people. A few of the mentioned stories involved a guy who got caught twisting one off in his father’s favorite chair and a woman who had a condom dropped on her head during her first intimate encounter with a man. Some listeners phoned TnT with similar stories but for the most part, the conversation turned into a discussion over dating. The guys talked about various behaviors, hobbies or interests that would turn them off if dating a woman and asked for listener’s points of view as well. Many checked in to fill in the blank on their very own “I’d never date a guy/girl who _____” phrase. Most of the listeners mentioned small, nit picky things like “I’d never date a wrestling fan” or “I’d never date a woman who farts”. Admittedly, most of the things mentioned were kind of childish, nit picky thoughts people have about people they’d potentially date but that’s reality. Even though such things might be very minor, they could easily cause a relationship to crumble. TnT seemed to enjoy exploring that realm of their listener’s innermost thoughts.

Gunner came in this morning and played a few solo tunes for Todd and Tyler. He used to be in a local band but now he’s working for the Mighty Z as a sales weasel and playing solo gigs at area clubs on the side. The two songs he did sounded great. Unfortunately, when Gunner was giving the information about where he’d be playing next, I had my headphones off to listen to something my boss was saying. When I put the headphones back on, I had missed the details. I apologize. I’m sure you can get a hold of Donnie and get details if you really need or, perhaps, post your information request on the Z92.com message board.

Out of the blue today, Boomer Esiason called Todd and Tyler this morning. He was prompted to call by TnT’s former Husker Buddy Dave Remmington. They work together for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and seem to be pretty good buddies. Boomer talked a little bit about CF and then shared in some stories about Remmington with TnT. He also talked about getting booted out of the Monday Night Football booth and how he made his way into the CBS Radio broadcast booth. Boomer also asked TnT which Husker game he should come to this year. After reading through the Husker schedule for Boomer, his reply on the strength of schedule was something along the lines of, “Oh my god…….” It was quite funny and most likely made today’s promotional announcement for the TnT show. You’ll probably be hearing the interview on an upcoming Best Of show soon so stay tuned.

Dr. Ed will join Todd and Tyler and the guys will spend some more time talking about the Kick-ball-off to this year’s Rock-A-Thon. Tune in from 5:30 to 10 for another show and then check back here tomorrow for another written update. Thanks for reading this jazz. I appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby “No One’s Ever Really Called Me the Alien Guy” Bender-
