TnT Show 09-15-2000

Friday 9-15-00

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by reading details of the Mark Vedral case from the World Herald. They seemed most intrigued by the fact that Vedral left his underwear in the room after the incident and that his underwear had a built-in pocket for a condom. They continued discussing the case as the morning went along and, with the help of Janglepop who later visited the show, they worked up a song about the Vedral case. TnT also discussed the “Husker angle” and how media always seems to want to give Husker players the benefit of the doubt even when it comes to abuse or rape charges. TnT spent a little time recollecting their days in college and said they could see how two drunken college people could be less than clear about what was going on but they doubted the girl in the story couldn’t tell the difference between a guy she had slept with a few hours earlier and his naked Husker roommate.

Prize Lady Barb and Big Pussy went to 72nd & Dodge Street this morning to collect more money for Camp CoHoLo. They checked in throughout the show and updated TnT on the progress of donations. Several people were kind enough to drop off $300 gifts to sponsor a child at camp. The phone lines should be open until 6pm on Friday night so if you’re reading this early enough, call 250-ROCK and pledge anything you can right now.

While discussing the Vedral situation, they mentioned that the woman in the story was the ex-girlfriend of Vedral’s roommate, Chad Kelsey (I believe that’s his name). The guys then spent a majority of the show talking about how men normally don’t fool around with their buddy’s ex-girlfriends. They attributed the phenomenon to the “guy code”. TnT did say, however, that women don’t seem to have the same rules when it applies to having sex with their friend’s ex-boyfriends. “Men are just more honorable,” they joked. Many calls came in throughout the show from listeners who wanted to back up TnT’s opinion or dispute it. A lot of the stories involved men/women who’s friends had shafted them over for their ex-girlfriends/ex-boyfriends and TnT were beginning to think that their theory was incorrect. As the show progressed, more callers who agreed with TnT and had stories to share checked in. There wasn’t an incredible amount of diversity in the calls, though. Most of them followed the same storyline. Either the caller was screwed over by a buddy or he wasn’t. The callers were, nonetheless, interesting and pretty good considering it was a Friday show. Oh yea, speaking of callers, on an unrelated caller note, Chris (who checks in pretty early nearly every day) dropped the F-bomb on TnT by accident (it was bleeped but still funny as hell).

Travis came in to do the sports and also delivered his stellar picks for Box and Lock. Travis’s Box of the Week, in Olympic spirit, is US Woman’s Soccer player Mia Hamm. I had to bounce around the Olympics web site for 10 minutes to find the proper spelling in order to avoid getting flamed on the message board. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a photo of her. I’m sure we can all assume she fits the “box” category according to Trav. As for Travis’s Lock of the Week, he chose Perdue –5 ½ playing Notre Dame. We’ll see if his picks this week will land him at the 0-3 record. Tune in Monday to find out.

Vinnie Favorito from the Funny Bone came in this morning and hung out with TnT for a while. He joined in on the topics of the day and discussed last night’s show. Vinnie also poked quite a bit of fun at Donnie this morning saying Donnie “looks like he’s always got in a chew even when he doesn’t” and referring to Donnie’s lower lip as “a toll basket”. Check Vinnie out at the Funny Bone this weekend for a great show. Call 493-8036 for reservations and/or information and feel free to visit and bookmark the Funny Bone’s web site at http://www.funnyboneomaha.com” target=blank>www.funnyboneomaha.com.

Janglepop came in studio today and played a few tunes for TnT. In fact, they worked up a great version of “Jessie’s Girl” with Todd and Tyler’s lyrics that was titled “Kelsey’s Girl” (in reference to the Vedral TnT had discussed all morning). You’ll probably hear “Kelsey’s Girl” many times during the next few weeks so stay tuned. As for Janglepop, you can catch them playing tonight in Nebraska City at the Apple Jack Festival.

Well, that’s the Friday update. Check back here on Monday for another update of the Todd and Tyler show. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby Bender-
