TnT Show 09-20-2000

Wednesday 9-20-00

The show started off this morning with a visit from Big Pussy. He dropped by to show Todd and Tyler an article from UNO’s paper, the Gateway. The article was all about how the student, Schrader, who lost his job as student president because he was drunk at a Maverick’s game. The guy called TnT last week and said he was running for the same spot again this year. The article talked about his call to TnT last week and discussed some of TnT’s comments about the male UNO population being stupid. TnT really seemed to get a kick out of making the paper. All the talk about the UNO student running for office spawned a lengthy discussion about student government in general. TnT, Donnie and Big Pussy all said they had no idea about what was going on in their schools relating to student government. Danny, on the other hand, admitted to serving in several positions while she was at school. The “So you’re a geek and you and your geek friends got together and did a bunch of geek stuff” sound effect was played for Danny repeatedly this morning.

TnT spoke with comedian/actor Andrew “Dice” Clay today. They’ve tried to get him on the air before but he’s been the king of blow-offs. This morning, I believe, is the first successful time Todd and Tyler were able to interview him. He called in to promote his new CD, “Face Down, Ass Up” and TnT even played a bleeped clip of it during their conversation. Donnie was laughing so hard, it sounded like he was hyperventilating. Dice spent a lot of time talking about his gambling habits and told some pretty amazing stories. TnT asked him about acting and he said he’s done a few things here and there including a movie that’s coming out soon but Dice said he’s going to stick to stand-up and tour the country to promote his new CD. The interview, which lasted well over a half hour, was great. Dice was funny as hell and just seemed to get on a roll and Todd and Tyler kept on pace with him. If Dice does come through Omaha, he said he’d come up and do the TnT show so I guess we have that to look forward to. Check out his CD. It should be in stores now.

Matt Campbell from the Funny Bone came in today. He’s the MC this week. TnT joked with Matt about the timing of his arrival saying that he could now claim Andrew “Dice” Clay opened up for him. TnT heard that Matt was in the coast guard so a majority of their conversations with Matt centered around that. Check him out at the Funny Bone this week. Call 493-8036 for reservations and/or information.

When Travis came in, the guys spent some time talking about the Huskers. Their home opener was announced yesterday as Troy State. TnT weren’t surprised but still seemed upset at the University’s continuous scheduling of crappy teams just to chalk up another 70-0 Husker victory to keep the blue hairs from keeling over in the stadium. The guys tried to call Lisa and find out her take on the whole thing but they were unable to get a hold of her. Instead, they left her a lengthy voice-mail and played her the “Kelsey’s Girl” song recorded by Janglepop last week.

Towards the end of the show, TnT spoke with Richard Hatch, the winner of CBS’s “Survivor”. The guys talked with him about the show but seemed more curious about some of the things Richard has been doing sense he left the island. They talked about some of the tabloid rumors and discussed Richard’s Letterman appearances. Richard told TnT he’s got a bunch of agents, plants to do some acting and he’s going to write a book. It was an interesting interview and I’m sure we’ll all be seeing more of Rich in the media soon.

Well, that’s all for the update today. I know it looks like a thin update but the show was packed full. Student government, an in studio comedy guest, time spent with Dice and the Survivor winner didn’t leave room for many tangents today but still made for a great show. Check back here tomorrow for the Thursday version. TnT will be joined by another Funny Bone guest and you never know what else they might surprise us with. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby Bender-
