TnT Show 09-22-2000

Friday 9-22-00

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by talking about Omaha Magazine’s “Best of Omaha” categories they do each year. As in years past, Todd and Tyler speculated that the winners for the categories would be the magazine’s own advertisers. I mean, come on…best furniture store? TnT also discussed the inside information they got about a possible FDR layoff taking place on the 28th of this month. They informed all of the current FDR staff that they should probably get their resumes ready. Todd and Tyler talked at great lengths about the Kingdom of Quavera all morning long. They had a photo of all the women taking part in the event this year and decided to play “Which princess would you like to nail?” They each picked out their favorites and then asked for callers to check in with theirs. Through a few odd twists in their conversation, the topic somehow turned into a game of “Monkey Spooge Bingo”. (I just had to add “spooge” to my spell checker hahaha) The premise was similar to “cow crap bingo” that goes on at state fairs all over the country except it had it’s own TnT show spin on it, with the monkey spooge and all. Callers checked in throughout the show and read off the location of one of the princesses in a very Battle Ship-like manor. TnT would look at the corresponding girl and let people know if she was hot or not. If she was hot, the caller hit Bingo, if not, they wouldn’t. Actually, I don’t think anyone didn’t Bingo this morning. The guys brought up one other note of interest about the published photo of the princesses. TnT seemed a little upset but not surprised that there were only white women in the photo of possible princesses.

Larry the Cable Guy called into the show today but he couldn’t wait on hold. He ended up hanging up and never got around to calling TnT back. Perhaps he’ll check in next week.

Today was Travis’s 30th birthday. Happy Birthday Trav. He tried to hide his birthday and would have been successful except TnT’s lawyer buddy Michael came in studio and spilled the beans. When Travis did sports, he got around to his Lock and Box. This week’s Box is Sheryl Swoops of the USA Olympic basketball team. Travis picked Ohio State –12 over Penn State as his Lock of the Week. Tune in Monday and see if Travis will be 0-4.

TnT called their morning show mom Jean. They hadn’t spoken to her in quite a while so they had a lot of catching up to do. They talked about corn and farming for a bit and then asked her about the drinks old people drink (an earlier topic on the show). Jean told TnT that she doesn’t do much drinking anymore because she’s on medication. It was pretty funny. Somehow, from there the conversation turned into the harvesting of ditch weed. It was great to hear from mom again and hopefully TnT will call her back soon.

John Paul Morgan from the Funny Bone joined TnT in studio this morning. He hung out for a few hours and joined in on the topics of the day. He talked about a variety of things including how his wife won the lottery, being from the south, sucking the heads of crawfish and, later the Wicca religion. He was very funny as you might expect a comedian to be. Check him out at the Funny Bone this weekend by calling 493-8036 for reservations.

5 Story Fall came in towards the end of the show and played a few songs for TnT. They sounded great and didn’t seem to mind when TnT and John Paul Morgan morphed one of their songs to fit the current topic of the show, eating pie. You can catch the band at the 18th Amendment tonight.

Right at the end of the show, TnT got into a big discussion about the Wicca religion. I guess Vlock the body consealer and his little buddy who killed his father did some sort of Wicca ceremony before the murder. Local news mentioned the Wicca religion in their story about the murder and TnT spent a little time discussing it. TnT thought the Wicca religion was getting a bad rap. After all, when anyone else kills someone, the news doesn’t feel the need to tell you that murderer was a Catholic or a Jewish person or a Buddhist. A few callers checked in to offer different opinions on Wicca including a call from a lady who is currently practicing Wicca and a man who was a Wiccian but now is a Christian. It was pretty interesting. Todd and Tyler might bring this up again a little closer to Halloween so stay tuned if you’re curious.

Well, that’s all for today’s update. Check back here on Monday for another one. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby Bender-
