TnT Show 10-17-2000

Tuesday 10-17-00

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about last night’s Monday Night Football game. Subsequently, today was another ”Hangover Tuesday” show. They also talked about tonight’s upcoming Creed concert. The guys seemed a little upset that nobody from Creed could get up early enough to stop by the morning show for a little while. After all, Z92 has been talking about and playing Creed sense before they got big. Why not swing by Z92’s top rated morning show for a visit and talk about the band and the concert? TnT also mentioned a few of the things they had on the plate for this morning’s show. One of which was an interview with Eddie Money but he blew off TnT yet again. I think they’ve been trying to get Eddie on the air for about 2 weeks now but every time they announce that today’s the day, the get blown off. Smart move Eddie. You’re so popular right now.

During Dani’s newscast, she read a story about a Council Bluffs guy who was beat up in his yard after riding his bicycle away from a police stop in which he had been videotaping. The story was sorted and plenty of speculation surrounded the events that took place. This man is, after all, the same guy who filmed another CB police officer yelling at him about his 9% body fat just a few weeks ago. No one knew quite what to believe. A few callers checked in to discuss the legality of filming people, including the police, in public. A majority of the conversation on the story, however, centered around Dani and Donnie playing the roll of “Police Apologists”. TnT tried to figure out what the man actually did wrong while Dani and Donnie provided the hard-nose, jackboot, “screw’em, he’s a freak” point of view.

The guys had some Creed tickets to give away on this morning’s show and came up with an interesting plan to get rid of them. They asked for listeners to call in if they had a parent who didn’t like the TnT show. Then, TnT would call the parent, ask them to listen until 9am, answer a simple question about what had happened on the show and, if they got the question right, their kid would win tickets to tonight’s Creed concert. The idea served two purposes. First off, they’d make a listener happy by giving them Creed tickets. Secondly, the could possibly turn someone on to their show who wouldn’t normally listen. After a few calls, the guys had secured 3 sets of participants:

  • Listener Vanessa’s mother, Donna
  • Listener Andrea’s mother, Judy
  • Listener Chris’s dad, Andy

The show then continued on as normal. After 9am, TnT called all 3 of the parents and asked them a question relating to the show. Donna won Vanessa some Creed tickets with knowledge of TnT’s “Tommy Frazier Memories” bit. Judy won Andrea the tickets as well by naming the character “Fred” from “Scooby Doo” (after some prompting from Donnie). Chris’s father, Andy, didn’t know who blew off TnT (Eddie Money) but was able to name the in-studio musical guest and won his son some tickets to tonight’s concert as well. All three of the parents who normally didn’t listen actually admitted to enjoying the parts of the TnT show that they heard this morning. They also said they wouldn’t object to tuning in to Todd and Tyler’s show again.

The gang spent some more time discussing Proposition 416 again today. They took a few calls on both sides of the issue and reiterated their own opinions. This topic has seemingly become a daily battle for TnT. They’re constantly trying to point out how unnecessary and hurtful the purposed law would be to Nebraska yet they still get calls from uneducated bigots who don’t understand what they are trying to support.

Travis’s story yesterday about Wayne, the pissed off guy on the airplane home from Texas, was brought up again this morning. A flight attendant who was on Wayne’s returning flight checked in. She told TnT about some of the things Wayne had done on her flight back to Nebraska. According to her, the last time she saw Wayne, he was standing on the curb at airport with the upper portion of his butt crack hanging out waiting for a ride. After here call, TnT got quite a few e-mails from people who know Wayne. Someone forwarded TnT his phone number and the guys called him. They spent a few minutes talking to him and asking him questions like why he acted the way he did on the plain and if he really thought the pilots could fly by sight, with no instruments. It became quite clear that Wayne wasn’t the brightest pickle in the jar, allegedly.

A drunk guy named Tom called in a few times this morning and tried to get on the air. Donnie recorded his call and then edited it down to make it airable. What was left was a 30 second clip of Tom complaining about how his kids are scared to go outside because of young, black rappers. Tom scattered more than a handful of bleep words throughout his unintelligible call as well. The guys played the clip but didn’t talk about it at all. I think they just wanted to forget that people like Tom exist.

Towards the end of the show, Josh, the singer for Full Devil Jacket, joined TnT. The band is going to be opening the Creed show tonight. The guys spent some time talking with Josh about his musical roots, Tennessee, his influences, how his band was formed and how they got hooked up with Creed’s tour. Josh seemed like a pretty good guy and the short clip we heard of Full Devil Jacket sounded cool. Sock Monkey Lynn Taylor also came in and sopped and rambled and sopped and rambled about Creed for the last hour of the show. I’m sure tonight’s concert will be cool and all the Omaha Creed freaks will be sopping as much as Lynn Taylor. Enjoy the concert everyone. I’ll stick to my Ramones and Misfits CDs.

Well, that’s it for the update today. Check back here tomorrow for the Wednesday version. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
