TnT Show 10-25-2000

Wednesday 10-25-00

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by reading a few “you were wrong” e-mails they received after the end of yesterday’s show. They also read and discussed a World Herald editorial written about them and their comments made on Iowa’s riverboat casinos. The guys had talked about the boats the other day and expressed how they felt Omaha should have gotten the boats here. After all, Nebraskans are just driving over the river and blowing their money in Iowa anyway. Why not let Nebraska benefit from the cash those boats provide the state? Well, the editorial didn’t take TnT’s point of view and, without naming them, referenced them as “potty mouth” hosts. The guys disagreed with the editorialist and seemed most upset that the author of the editorial refused to call them by name. Since Minge left the Herald, Todd and Tyler haven’t been mentioned in that fish wrap at all even when the non-signing editorialists slam them. TnT also spent some time discussing their costume ideas for the Freaker’s Ball taking place on Friday night. Tyler’s going as a pirate, Donnie is going as a dominatrix, Donnie and Caller 9 are going as the dead Bob and Phyllis Dvany and I was unable to determine exactly what Todd had decided to be this year.

Also early in the show, the guys discussed how they get upset when local politicians use the “Nebraska born and raised” phrase in their ads to justify how good of a person they are. As transplants from out of state, TnT feel that they are Nebraskans now because they’ve lived here and paid taxes here for the last 7+ years. Why do the politicians think that if you’re not born in Nebraska, you can’t be a good person and/or run for office here? The discussion on the political ads and the image they try to portray of those born in Nebraska continued throughout the show. Some listeners called in with ideas on why the politicians do it but none of their suggestions seemed to be able to justify what the ads are saying.

Donnie presented Todd and Tyler with a question about morals this morning that turned into a huge topic throughout the show. Donnie said he had talked with a friend of his who’s around 40-years-old and is unmarried. Yesterday, the man was walking through a hall in his home and happened to glance out a window. 10 feet away was an open window to the bathroom of his neighbor’s house. His neighbor’s 15-year-old daughter was standing in front of the mirror topless with a towel wrapped around her waist. She was, as Donnie put it, “playing with her nipples”. The man said he watched her for about 10 minutes and then went on with his day. He also proclaimed that he didn’t say anything to the girl and didn’t twist off feverishly.

The moral question was whether or not the guy did anything wrong by watching the girl. Immediately, the room seemed split. Tyler and Donnie were of the opinion that the guy did not do anything wrong. He was in his home looking out his window. If the neighbor girl didn’t want to be seen, she could have closed the window. Sense the guy didn’t record, photograph or twist one off while watching the girl seemed to make the man exempt from being called a pervert. He simply watched as any normal, human sexual being would do. Even knowing she was underage didn’t seem to make much difference because she was obviously a developed young woman. Both Donnie and Tyler said that if she was younger and undeveloped, it would have been sick but because the girl had breasts “and was hot”, it would have been the same as looking at a legal 18-year-old girl in the same situation.

Todd, Travis and Dani, on the other hand, felt that it was totally wrong for the man to watch the young woman play with her nipples. Travis’s stance seemed to be that even catching a glimpse of the girl was morally wrong. Of course, Travis’s comments and stance on the question obviously centered on the massive weight of Catholic Guilt hoisted onto his shoulders throughout his life. Dani seemed to be caught up on the aspect of how long the guy stood watching and the fact that the man knew the girl was only 15-years-old. She said she could understand watching for a little bit out of curiosity but not for 10 minutes. She was also of the opinion that because the man knew the girl was underage, it was wrong to watch. Todd also agreed with what Dani was saying. Tyler pointed out that Todd might feel that way because he’s got a daughter approaching that age himself and he wouldn’t want a 40-year-old guy to see her naked.

The guys took lots of calls from listeners who wanted to talk about both sides of the moral question. Surprisingly, a lot of people (including female callers) agreed with Tyler and Donnie. After the hour-long discussion, TnT tried to put an end to the topic but the callers continued to bring it up throughout the remainder of the show.

Listener Jennifer, one of the baggage free women who recently called the show, made it in studio this morning for her meeting with Jeremy. She hung out for a little bit and was introduced to TnT’s favorite beanpole of a slave boy. Nothing much was really said of the meeting afterwards. At one point, however, someone mentioned that Jeremy is “too picky” and that lead me to believe that Jeremy wasn’t all that interested in Jennifer.

All morning long, TnT rounded up more former Huskers to come in and sing some tunes from “Oklahoma” on tomorrow’s show. Several former Huskers called in to confirm their spot and talked with TnT for a while. Tune in tomorrow around 7am in order to catch the former Huskers sing the tunes.

The last portion of the show seemed to be a wrap-up of things discussed over the past few days. The guys took a few calls from “baggage free” women, they elaborated further on the local spin politicians always stick into their ads and a few calls about the 15-year-old booby girl also came in. I’m sure there will be more talk about the big moral topic of this morning’s show as people hear about it this evening and react on the message board and e-mails. Make sure to tune in early for the reaction.

That’s all for the update today. Check back here tomorrow afternoon for the Thursday edition. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
