TnT Show 11-10-2000

Friday 11-10-00

TnT started off the show talking about a variety of issues relating to marriage. They discussed the divorce rate and status of remarried people and took lots of calls from listeners who wanted to share their tales. Other variations on the topic came in as listeners phoned the show as well. Marriages within 2 years of a divorce that are working, ex’s living very close to each other “for the sake of the kids” and more talk about statistically doomed relationships were scattered throughout the entire show.

After a couple of days of dropping “bring me wedding gifts” hints on the air, Donnie received his first and only gift from a listener this morning. The listener was TnT’s lawyer buddy and musicologist, Michael (by far the coolest lawyer in the known universe). He dropped off a Wok set for Donnie and his bride and hung out for a little bit with the guys. The conversation about marriages continued with more talk of Donnie’s wedding. After hearing that no bartenders were commissioned to work the event, TnT concluded that the wedding was a bit unorganized. That, on top of the fact that the DJ sounds like a total hammerhead who wants Dani to bring a bottle of rum, caused Todd to make several references to how much he was not looking forward to attending the reception. Later in the show, Caller 9 brought up Donnie’s two kids. After hearing their daddy joke on the air about divorces being “the kid’s fault”, Donnie’s daughter proclaimed on the mike, seemingly unprompted, “It’s not my fault!” It was very cute. Later, the kids joined in on talking like a brother with the in-studio comedian guest, Arnez J.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a commentary on the Florida vote counting problem and the hole-punching, blue haired idiots who may have screwed Gore out of a victory because they couldn’t figure out the punch cards. A listener also informed Donnie, who passed on the information to Larry, that Larry received at least one Florida write-in vote that was witnessed on CNN yesterday. Larry got a kick out of that. Tune in next week for more Larry the Cable Guy commentaries.

Travis came in this morning and gave his Lock of the Week. I suppose with a record of 2 and 7, it could hardly be called a Lock but I guess we still will. Perhaps next year, we’ll give it a better, more suitable name. He’s picking Pitt +20 ½ in Miami. His Box of the Week is Amanda Plumber, also known as “Honey Bunny” from “Pulp Fiction”. I must say that this particular Box pick fits right along with the very essence of the meaning behind Box of the Week. Way to go Trav!

Arnez J from the Funny Bone visited the show this morning. He hung out with TnT and seemed to enjoy himself. Throughout his visit, there was the occasional, very loud and random scream of incoherence that, I guess, brothers sometimes do when they’ve got nothing else to say. Arnez did spent some time trying to school Todd and Tyler on how to talk like brothers. Tyler seemed to pick it up pretty fast but there is obviously no hope for Todd. Lots of brothers and sisters checked in to talk to Arnez all morning long. They discussed his show and career, talked about butt slapping and “the bootie” and spent some time talking about various aspects of inter-racial relationships. Towards the end of the show, Arnez took it upon himself to create a phone-in contest for TnT’s listeners. His idea was to have callers check in and fill in the following line: “My friend’s name ’s breath stinks so bad, it’s like “. TnT were kind and played along with Arnez’s idea long enough to justify putting the axe to the call-in bit. It took all of 2 calls, which were utterly horrible and not funny, for the justification to come and, at that time, thankfully, TnT ended Arnez’s “win a lunch with me by calling in” bit. Check Arnez out at the Funny Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036.

Well, that’s about it for the update today. Check back here on Monday for a new one. I’m sure we’ll get a report on Donnie’s wedding, we’ll all get a laugh at yet another Lock of the Week failure and Tyler will most likely discuss his trip to PA. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
