TnT Show 11-13-2000

Monday 11-13-00

Todd and Tyler started off the show this morning discussing their weekends. Tyler went home to Pennsylvania for a visit and discussed his trip a little bit. TnT had some things to say about the Husker loss. They solicited phone calls from Husker fans who wanted to talk about the game all morning long but only received a call from Duke. Everyone else seemed quite quiet about the game. Due to the highly increased possibility that they will have to part with their $20,000, Todd and Tyler discussed more about their National Championship Guarantee. Brian Houston, the loudest call screener in the world, came in and took care of the phones for Donnie who was still on his honeymoon. Todd, Brian and Dani all offered up some reaction to Donnie and Caller 9’s reception. Most of the reaction as about how neck-like the event was. They also talked about how Tony was received, as the only black man attending the event. Also, even though Donnie promised he wouldn’t sing at the reception, he did get up in front of the crowd and belt out “Devil Went Down To Georgia.” That led into some talk about Donnie’s need for “the spotlight”. The guys joked by saying that even being the groom isn’t enough of the spotlight for Donnie.

Donnie phoned the show this morning from Indianapolis. He talked a little bit about the honeymoon but for the most part, he seemed to center his call on complaining about various aspects of his weekend. He bitched about everything from a waitress they had to the “seats on the moon” he got for the Colts game. After he hung up, TnT spent some time pondering why a guy who just got married would have nothing good to say about anything. Later, Donnie checked in from the Chicago airport and tried to take back a few of the bitchy things he said. The guys let Donnie go pretty quickly and after he was off the line, one of them referred to Donnie’s second call to the show as “not necessary”. As the show progressed, TnT seemed pleased with the total absence of fake phone calls, interruptions and general positive atmosphere to the show and correlated with the fact that Donnie wasn’t there.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and talked with TnT about Donnie’s wedding and the Husker Game. He then went into a lengthy commentary on how he can’t stop playing with himself. Stay tuned for more Larry commentaries as the week progresses.

TnT read and discussed a World Herald article comparing Iowa and Nebraska this morning. The guys went through all the categories and tried to decide which state “won”. After some examination, TnT thought the article was really poorly researched and full of misinformation. From there, they took calls from listeners who came up with their own categories to pit the two states against each other in. A majority of the calls, it seemed, were from listeners who wanted to share information on Johnny Carson. By the end of the show, the guys had heard that Carson was born and lived in about 27 different towns and cities in Iowa and Nebraska.

With some reaction on the Husker loss, former Husker quarterback Keithan McCant phoned TnT this morning from northern California. He ranted and complained about the Husker’s team for quite a while, stating that they don’t have an I-back and they just plain look bad. TnT were quite amused at Keithan’s remarks. They kept trying to talk to him about what he’s doing now but Keithan kept going back into his rant about how bad the Huskers are this year. It was very funny.

The only Husker fan who was not a former player to check in this morning was Dodge County Duke. It just so happened that at the same time Duke phoned in, the Anti-Husker Fan also called the show. TnT conferenced the two arch rivals and let them spew their venom at each other. The Anti-Husker Fan referenced the “final point being the 29th point” and then hung up. Duke had what appeared to be a mental meltdown at that point. He seemed speechless and I’m sure, had he not been on the radio, a slew of F-bombs and mom cards would have been tossed about but instead, he just hung himself with his phone cord.

Todd and Tyler had a conversation with David Coverdale this morning. David was with Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Coverdale-Paige over a very long career in the music industry. He’s put out a new CD called “Into The Light” which you should be able to find on sale now. He’s currently making the rounds in a “Bla Bla Bla tour” talking about and promoting his new CD and he mentioned possibly going back out on tour in the spring. Todd and Tyler mentioned the Z-92 Birthday Bash as a possible stop for him but nothing was confirmed. Perhaps that will work itself out down the road. Anyway, David talked with TnT about his career, joked about his ex-wife and discussed David’s 4-year-old son for a bit. He was surprisingly funny and quite cool. Check out his new CD and visit his web site at http://www.davidcoverdale.com” target=blank”>www.davidcoverdale.com.

Travis came in and did sports this morning. Unfortunately, his sportscast was full of inaccurate information because the Omaha World Herald botched a bunch of scores and other sports related reports. After a bunch of calls came in correcting Travis, the poor guy proclaimed, “I suck”. TnT also spent some time talking with Travis about how his picks for his Lock of the Week for this season have been really bad. I believe Travis is somewhere around 2 and 8 for this season alone. Travis bantered around the idea of changing the format of his Lock of the Week to pick actual losers but neither TnT thought that would be a good idea. They want him to stay with the format of trying to pick winners instead of losers. We’ll see which way Travis goes on this Friday’s show. Make sure to tune in.

Todd and Tyler ended their show this morning by reading a couple of e-mails they have received from people who wanted to give their personal opinions on various aspects of Todd and Tyler’s personal relationships. The guys spent a little time talking about the e-mails but didn’t dwell on it too much. After all, the opinions of people they don’t know about their own personal lives really don’t matter much to TnT.

Tonight is another installment of Monday Night Football at the Arena Sports Bar. Join Todd, Tyler and Donnie for all the fun and excitement that is beer, televised football and drunken attempts at field goal kicking.

Tune in tomorrow for a Hangover Tuesday show. Donnie will be returning so prepare yourselves for the return of the fake call. Tune in from 5:46am to 10am and visit back here later in the day for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
