TnT Show 11-28-2000

Tuesday 11-28-00

This morning’s Todd and Tyler show centered around rock music. Today was the “List” show in which TnT and their listeners would determine the top 100 rock-n-roll bands of all time. Right from the start, the guys started detailing lists of everyday people they’d earlier rounded up. At this point I’d like to say that with so many guests in and out of the studio this morning, it was impossible for me to keep track of everyone’s top 20 list. I was able to, however, get a majority of the participant’s #1 pick.

A quick rundown of the #1 bands are as follows: Leslie, the stay at home mom chose Oingo Boingo. Her choice was disputed and laughed at all morning long. Dani chose the Rolling Stones as #1 and had the rest of her list filled with mostly hair bands from the ‘80s. Big Pussy and Slave Boy Jeremy chose Metallica. Donnie picked Aerosmith as #1 and had surprisingly good picks throughout his top 20, with the exception of Huey Lewis & the News. Bartender Dave picked the Stones as did Susan, Todd and Donnie’s lawyer. Scott Murphy picked Van Halen. Candy, Scott Moore (yea, the Secretary of State), Joe from Bluehouse, Musicologist/Lawyer Michael and General Jim all picked the Beatles. Deshawn’s list had a few wacky choices like ABBA and Sonny and Cher but she chose Elvis as her #1. Dwayne picked Van Halen as well but his list was tossed out the window when Crash Test Dummies appeared. Patrick chose Zepplin and Bart chose the Beetles. Travis chose the Eagles while Todd, Tyler and Colleen from the Bone all agreed on the Stones as #1. As you can see, putting any order to the chaos of lists was impossible. My apologies.

After Donnie ran the calculations in his twisted Midland Math Point System, the winner by a landslide was Led Zepplin. The results seemed surprising considering many more votes for the Stones and Beatles came in throughout the show. Of course, how many Midland math majors do you know?

It’s a quarter after 5pm and I’m still awaiting the list of the top 20 to post here (as I assumed would be e-mailed to me from what I was able to gather on the air). If the list does make it to me, I’ll post it up for all to see. From the sounds of it, Z-92 will be playing a song from each of the top 20 artists as decided by Todd and Tyler on Friday night. I’m sure further details will be announced so stay tuned.

Todd and Tyler spoke with Bob Vila this morning. Bob checked in to promote Craftsman tools as holiday gifts and peppered the interview with tool gift suggestions. The guys got him to talk about his career as a TV fix-this-old-piece-of-crap-house-up guy and went through several of the television shows he’s been associated with. They also asked about the one household job Bob said he hated to do the most, which was unplugging a stopped up toilet. Bob came across as being a little condescending and prissy with Todd and Tyler towards the end of the interview. He made a reference or two to TnT bringing him “back to the toilet”, meaning, from what I can gather, that they’re potty mouths. After the interview, the guys joked around about Bob’s condescending attitude towards them. After a while, the jokes lead into how the Vila followers would probably be upset at what TnT had to say about him and would meet them in the parking lot for a tool duel. The interview probably won’t end up on the “Best Of” unless it’s followed directly by TnT’s comments about Bob, the tool…guy.

Well, that’s all for today’s update. The show was great and everyone seemed to have a good time discussing their lists. The Ramones were not mentioned, which chapped the hell out of my hide, but, whatta ya gonna do? Tune in tomorrow from 5:30 to 10am for another show and then visit www.z92.com in the afternoon for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
