TnT Show 12-18-2000

Monday 12-18-00

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning discussing the snow that swept through Omaha last night. Everyone made it in to work this morning without incident but TnT prompted all their listeners not to leave the house. It was truly nasty on the roads at 5:30am. Dani came in and read the news, which lead into several other early morning topics; the first being Dani’s increasing number of mispronounced words. Poor Dani hasn’t seemed to have gone a day without screwing up some simple, every day word’s pronunciation and TnT lay into her each time she does it. Another news topic was that of priests that leave the church because they want the pie. I believe the paper had an article or two on how more and more priests are leaving the church for various reasons. The guys felt, and rightfully so, that the guys leaving just want female companionship. They speculated that if the church would allow them to get married, more men would stay as priests.

TnT talked about the Husker’s volleyball championship that took place over the weekend. They stated that no one really cares about Husker volleyball and defended their opinion several times throughout the show when e-mailers got through to dispute their claims. “Nebraska is a football state”, Tyler said and Todd agreed. Donnie received a call from someone saying that a majority of the people in last night’s TV coverage were faculty forced to go by the powers that be at the University. E-mailers checked in all morning with data on the number of fans at the volleyball games trying to convince TnT that they were wrong but their argument just wasn’t strong enough to change the minds of TnT.

Larry the Cable Guy phoned this morning’s show and nearly gave us a repeat commentary of one he delivered last week. After TnT informed Larry that they’d already heard it, Larry moved on to the next one on is list. The commentary was basically about fat girls wearing tight pants at the Creed concert Larry went to recently. Keep in mind that Larry will be at the Funny Bone from the 26th through New Years Eve (3 shows that night) so call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations.

Dawnette and her two brothers, formerly of Ivory Star, came in studio this morning and hung out with TnT for a bit. Donnie had planned the little reunion without the knowledge of TnT, saying he had a “special surprise guest” coming up today. He then said that the guest was something TnT thought they’d never see again. It took Tyler all of ½ a second to guess that it was a reunion of Ivory Star. Donnie tried to deny Tyler had guessed the surprise correctly and he did so convincingly until Dawnette and the brothers came in. The trio sung, instrument-less, three Christmas tunes including “White Christmas”, “Jingle Bells” and “Winter Wonderland”. It was great to hear Dawnette sing again, even if she was drunk. From the sounds of it, another reunion of Ivory Star might be in the works for a special summer time engagement in, oh let’s just say August, so all you Ivory Star fans have that to hope for.

After Todd and Tyler day last Thursday, the guys thought it would be nice to do something for their best intern yet, Big Pussy. They declared today Big Pussy day in Omaha and sent him out on the town to try to get some free stuff in celebration. The idea was for Big Pussy to go to stores and find things he wanted and then Todd and Tyler would try to convince the store managers to give the item to Big Pussy for Big Pussy Day. The first stop for Big Pussy was at the Quick Trip by the station. He successfully scored a free bottle of Mountain Due. Next he went to a VIP Car Wash and got a free wash (absolutely the perfect thing to do in the middle of a 6 inch snowstorm). Later, Big Pussy was awarded with a free Pizza Hut pizza. The capper for the day was when Big Pussy went to the Best Buy near Crossroads. There, the store manager gave him a couple of CDs as well as an AM/FM CD player boom box! What a great Big Pussy Day.

Travis came in to do sports this morning. He even hung around after he had finished because the weather was so crappy. Trav told TnT about his weekend, which included a “No TV Sunday” experiment. He said he spent the entire day without the TV on hanging out with his kids. They played Barbies and he pulled them around the house in a laundry basket with a rope. During Travis’s time on the show today, he mentioned Lisa Volenek. TnT brought up the fact that she’s going to be in Omaha for her friend’s wedding soon. In fact, the wedding is the night of the Alamo Bowl. As they did last week, TnT gave Lisa a little bit of a hard time about her request to have a TV at the wedding so she could see the game. They speculated that poor Lisa would be standing there in her pretty dress with one of those FBI-like earphones in one ear and a Walk-Man in her pocket trying to get details of the football game. It was quite a funny visual. Lets only hope that Lisa isn’t that worried about the game that means nothing. Perhaps TnT will talk to Lisa again soon. Then again, if they do, will she bother to tell them anything? She kept her fireman boyfriend secret from them for 6 months (something that seemed to have pissed Donnie off more than anyone else, as he brings it up all the time).

Moon Juice came in studio this morning and played a few tunes for TnT. They did a rocking version of “Rudolph” and then covered a very cool tune from the Clash. You can catch them at the Howard Street on the 23rd and at Rumors on New Years Eve. Also, feel free to visit their web site at http://www.moonjuice.org” target=blank>www.moonjuice.org.

Right towards the end of the show, TnT got a call from this morning’s Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day. Her name was Gina and she was stuck in a snow bank somewhere. After getting out to try to push her car, she realized she’d locked the keys in. The fine folks at Carl Jarl took care of her.

Tonight is the final Monday Night Football party at the Arena Sports Bar. TnT are giving away the two smoky chairs from NFM that have been in the bar all season to one of the people who qualified for them earlier in the year. If you qualified, you must be present to win.

Tomorrow is the last Todd and Tyler show of the year, as TnT will be taking about a 2-week vacation returning after the New Year. They’ll be joined by a Funny Bone guest as well as a few bands. I believe the Fish Heads are coming up to continue the tradition of an island kickoff to TnT’s holiday vacation. Make sure to tune in from 5:30 to 10am and soak in every minute of the show. The next two weeks, albeit a great little vacation for our favorite hosts, are going to be dreadfully boring. We’ll all have to tune in for the Best Of stuff to survive. Wow, now that’s an update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
