TnT Show 12-19-2000

Tuesday 12-19-00

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing last night’s Monday Night Football party at the Arena Sports Bar. As the NFL season draws closer to and end, the guys spent a little time going over possible ways for their own favorite teams to make it into the playoffs and, possibly, to the Super Bowl. Also early on the list of topics this morning was the weather “crawls” that polluted local radio and television broadcasts all day yesterday. The guys stressed again the feelings of us all when they said “cancellation radio sucks” and pointed out how terribly annoying it is to the viewer, that TV “crawl” at the bottom of the screen filled with cancellation information. Also early on the show this morning, TnT got a call from Andy who proclaimed himself this morning’s Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day.

Early in the show, TnT spent some time discussing clothing. The topic centered mostly around the sexiness of the Catholic Schoolgirl outfit, which, as most guys agree, is one of the sexiest looks out there. As the topic continued, the guys spent a little time talking about the clothing their parents used to make them wear when they were kids and how they never felt cool coming to school with their feet covered in bread sacks, 5 buckle boots or moon boots. They took a few calls but then moved on.

TnT’s lawyer friend Michael came in studio this morning and delivered his annual Christmas gifts to the TnT show staff. He presented the guys with a Gino Vanelli CD and gave Dani an Ernhart lamp. He also gave Todd one of those singing catfish. The guys played with the catfish for a while and then moved on to fun with Travis’s gift, which was a CD full of horrible Christmas Gregorian Chants. TnT played clips of the chants throughout the show and had a great time coming up with their own chants. After finding the word “asshole” in one of the songs, the guys played the clip multiple times.

JP is trying to sell her home and Todd and Tyler thought they might be able to help. They sent JP and Big Pussy to JP’s place and had Big Pussy bury a “Greetings from Throckmorton” CD upside down in JP’s yard. The idea was a takeoff of what Travis did to sell his home a few months ago. As you will recall, Travis buried St. UpSideDown in his yard in an attempt to have God assist in selling his place. Later in the show, JP said she had already received a call. If you want more information on JP’s home, I believe she’s posted details on the Z92.com message board.

Acoustic Groove came in studio this morning and performed a few Christmas tunes for TnT. They did the Christmas song from that Charlie Brown cartoon and then did “Merry Little Christmas”. I believe you can catch the band at Cuzzos at some point in the future. I’m lacking details because of information overload. Between their appearances and the appearances of the other band, my notes are cluttered with locations, dates, times, phone numbers and benefit information. I’ve got no idea what goes with what and I apologize.

The Fish Heads came in this morning to continue the annual tradition of kicking off TnT’s holiday break with some Christmas tunes. They did “Dradle, Dradle, Dradle” for all of the Jewish listeners and then did the Chipmunks Christmas song.

TnT had a conversation with Lewis Black this morning. He’s a standup comic and also does a weekly appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”. He’s the angry ranting lunatic you often see tossing his hands in the air and making his own glasses foggy with fits of rage. He spent a little time talking about some trouble he got into with a New York City radio show and then moved on to talk about his comedy act and his time with Comedy Central. He was very cool, quite funny and seemed to enjoy talking with TnT. The guys will speak with him again in the near future and Lewis will be appearing at our own Funny Bone from January 4th through the 6th.

TnT also spoke with Hewey Thomason if Lynyrd Skynyrd this morning. The band has put out an album of Christmas songs for the holiday season titled “Christmas Time Again”. TnT discussed the concept behind the new album and how it was put together. Afterwards, they went on to talk about Lynyrd Skynyrd’s summer tour plans.

Tonight at the Funny Bone is the Secret Santa Salvation Army benefit. Todd and Tyler will be opening up the show hosted by Mark Gross. The Funny Bone is going to be filled with comics tonight doing between 5-10 minutes of their best material and all proceeds go to benefit the Salvation Army. The cost to get in this evening is $12 if you make reservations before 4pm and $15 per person at the door without reservations. There is going to be an amazing plethora of comic talent at the Bone tonight. The guys had a few in-studio comic guests today including Kat James and Sean Gnant. They gave Sean a hard time because his girlfriend Kelly dumped him. Also appearing tonight will be the likes of Craig Peters and Jeff McGill as well as many more. TnT spoke on the phone Diane Aliamo who is flying in from Chicago to perform for the benefit. They also talked to Mark Gross, tonight’s host. He also joined in on the fun TnT were having at the expense of Sean Gnant’s crushed heart. The list of comics that will be at the Funny Bone tonight is excellent and it is a great benefit so stop on out to the Bone tonight for the show. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

Well, that’s the update for today. In fact, this is the last update of the year. Todd and Tyler are going to be out of town for a while and won’t be returning to the air until January 2nd (a Tuesday, I believe). Enjoy the “Best Of” shows over the next few weeks and make sure to tune back in for the return of Todd and Tyler in January. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
