Wednesday 1-17-01

Todd and Tyler started off the show this morning discussing last night’s “NYPD Blue” episode. There was yet another ass shot in last night’s program, this time of a woman. The guys spent a little time recollecting all the various ass shots they’ve seen on the show from the time it began. They even got a little help from a caller who refreshed their memories on some ass shots they’d forgotten.

Brian Houston of Houston Lawns came in this morning and did the news. There was a new news theme song, no mention of where Dani was (in fact, no mention of her whatsoever), a reference to Brian having a steady job now and later, a mention that Brian will be back tomorrow. In shaking my Magic 8-Ball and asking it if Dani is no longer a part of the show, it reads “All signs point to yes”. But then again, this is the same Magic 8-Ball that told me I’d leave a productive, successful, happy life and look how that’s turning out. Perhaps we’ll hear a definitive answer on the subject soon.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a commentary on Richard Simmons on “Hollywood Squares”. There’s really not much to detail about the commentary.

There were three main topics on the show today. The first of which was that today is the 10-year anniversary of the start of the Gulf War. The guys spent some time talking about where they were when they heard the news on the war and took calls from listeners who had Gulf War stories to share of their own. Todd was on the couch, Tyler was doing an appearance at a waterbed store, Donnie was a senior in high school and was immediately worried about being drafted. Brian said he was at a “Godfather 3” party at the Indian Hills theatre. The listeners checked in on the discussion at various times during the show telling stories of camels used as target practice and Diekmans under card tables.

Another subject that TnT spent some time with today was that of college beer drinkers. It seems that some people near UNO were recently busted for having a college party in which there were people drinking beer. Todd and Tyler discussed their days in college and talked about the sorts of parties they attended. For about an hour, listeners phoned in with various tales of their own high school and college beer parties. After a while, the guys put and end to the discussion, however, because the stories began to get repetitive and most of the callers were uninteresting.

The other main topic of discussion this morning was of the drug Ritalin. One of the news magazine TV shows last night carried a story about how high school and college kids are snorting Ritalin to get high. TnT talked about the misuse of the drug for a while and then opened up the phone lines. Lots of calls came in from listeners who have tried Ritalin in various forms. TnT tried to compare its effects to the effects of drugs they’re familiar with but seemed to get conflicting information from a few of the callers. From the sounds of it, the snorting of Ritalin is nothing new as many of the callers today said they were messing around with it back in the 80’s.

Todd and Tyler brought up 4 listeners this morning to test out whether or not it is possible for humans to ingest a gallon of milk in a 1-hour period. The four contestants, Joe, Joe, Chris and John all sat in the studio over a drop cloth with puke buckets in front of them and a gallon of chocolate milk in their hands. They all began to drink the milk sometime around 7:30 or so. As the show progressed, TnT would occasionally check in with the four guys to see how they were feeling. About 40 minutes into the hour, John was the first to puke (getting it all over his shirt). He happened to do it right at the end of Travis’s sportscast, which nearly made Travis sick too. About 10 minutes later, the other three men chain barfed all over. One of the Joe’s was the next to puke followed shortly by Chris and then the other Joe. There where a couple of minutes during the show when three people were puking to various degrees all over the place. It was hideous. After the milk vomiters left, the guys finished up the last hour of the show continuing the conversations on the other subjects they were discussing before the vomiting began.

Tomorrow, Todd and Tyler are going to be speaking with John Tesh and one of the guys from the Jerky Boys. 3 Day meat Sale are also supposed to come in and play a few tunes but Donnie didn’t sound all that confident that the band would show up.
