TnT Show 01-19-2001

Friday 1-19-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show discussing a couple of things from the news. The fire captain who got busted messing with a young girl ended up killing himself so TnT talked about the way that was covered on television and in the paper. Brian took care of the news as well. Oh, by the way, Brian is the permanent news chick now, I believe, so we’ll be hearing lots more of him in the future.

Very early in the show, TnT got a call from regular caller Candy, the olive skin prosecutor. She asked the guys for some trained counseling and then proceeded to tell her story. She had offered up a relationship break to her boyfriend so he could think about whether or not he wanted to move back to Kansas to be closer to his kids. Candy felt that if she was around while he was making the decision, he might be influenced to stay here by being around her. They’ve been on the “break” for a few days it sounded like. Well, last night at a bar, she bumped into her boyfriend who was with what Candy thought was his ex girlfriend. She was confused about the whole “break” situation not knowing for sure if it was okay to sleep with someone else when such breaks occur.

She then proceeded to tell TnT that she confronted him and, later, phoned his voice mail. After that, she hit TnT with one pointless, unanswerable question after another pointless, unanswerable question. From the sounds of it, her questions and concerns weren’t really about what she could or should do but seemed more to be just general relationship questions that didn’t necessarily have anything to do with her boyfriend and their current “break”.

During the counseling, when TnT asked what he did for a living, she refused to tell them because someone might figure out who she was discussing. The guys spent some time trying to guess what her man did but she wasn’t divulging any information. Donnie took to the phones and brought out an impressive array of his characters all playing the roll of Candy’s boyfriend. Picturing Tubby Grogan/Cartman with Candy was pretty funny.

Continuing down the Candy vein, the guys tried to offer her up suggestions on how to deal with her situation. They said call, they said don’t call, they said leave him, they said give him some time and he’ll come back. It was all the typical trained counseling we’ve come to know from the guys: straightforward and truthful to the way guys think. Candy didn’t seem to like their answers, however, and called back 4 more times! The original call was 45 minutes long and each of the following four calls were at least another mind numbing 10 minutes each. Hm, maybe that’s why her boyfriend was happy about the break. After hearing her ramble on all day, Candy comes across as im-freaking-possible to tolerate for longer than 2 minutes at a time. She said she was going to call TnT back on Monday and fill them in on whatever happens over the weekend. Make sure to tune in early Monday morning for the update.

Around 8am, Todd and Tyler were joined by Tommy Chong. The remaining few hours of the show were spent discussing a plethora of different things about Tommy’s life and career. They discussed Chong Bongs, small wooden pipes Tommy’s carved and is selling for $100 a piece, how police come to his house to introduce rookies, getting high with Wally from “Leave It To Beaver”, all of his old movies, the creation of the “Dave’s not here man” bit and much, much more. He even assisted Candy in her relationship troubles later in the show when she called in for the 5th time of the morning. Tommy came across as though he was willing to sell anything including his old clothes. It was pretty funny. Speaking of Tommy selling things, feel free to visit his web site at www.chongglass.com.

By the end of the show, every available seat to all of Tommy’s shows at the Funny Bone were booked full. According to Colleen, Todd and Tyler set a record booking seats for the Bone this morning by having Tommy Chong on their show. You won’t be able to get a seat for Tommy this time around but write down the Funny Bone’s phone number anyway; 493-8036.

Well, that’s it for the update today. Between the Candy counseling and Tommy Chong, there really wasn’t too much for tangents today so the update might look kind of short. Make sure you tune in on Monday and then check back here Monday afternoon for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
