Monday 1-29-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing the weather. Overnight, rain had turned to ice that caked the state in a slippery sheet. They talked about the ice they had to deal with on their way to work. Tyler’s car, parked outside, was so covered in ice that he couldn’t drive that one in and opted to take another vehicle. Todd had some trouble getting up the incline in the parking lot of the radio station and had to crawl to the door utilizing his briefcase as a leverage tool. For the safety of their fine listeners, TnT prompted everyone to stay home unless they absolutely had to go out. The weather continued to be a topic of interest later in the show when Brian Houston went outside the Z-92 building for a while. I’ll detail more on that later in this update.

Early in the show, TnT got a call from a Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day. His name was Ken and he worked at the downtown post office. The guys chatted with him for a bit about how and why he locked himself out of his car and then they phoned the fine folks at Carl Jarl to help Ken out. Keep in mind that the Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day is a continuing promotion that any TnT listener can take part in during the hours of their show (until further notice, and only 1 Dumbass per day).

As you might expect, Todd and Tyler’s Super Bowl party at the Arena Sports Bar was a very large topic of interest throughout the show. The guys talked about all the events of the day and took phone calls all morning long from people who attended the bash. The butt thong contest was a huge success. I believe it was a woman named Heather who took home the top prize. Donnie apologized for calling the owner of the bar a retard and, later, TnT spoke with the owner on the air. He said that TnT had broken a one-day earnings record and he was quite pleased.

Talk continued down various avenues of the Super Bowl party. Todd expressed how his girlfriend was a bit upset at him because he didn’t pay enough attention to her during the party. Todd then went on to explain that he was worried about how the entire day would go, if there would be any complications and so on. He then said that his girlfriend compared him to how Tyler was treating Becky that day. “Well, Tyler did this for Becky and Tyler didn’t do that” and bla bla bla. Being thought of as the bestist boyfriend ever by Todd’s girlfriend made Tyler quite happy. He even called his girlfriend Becky to inform her of exactly how good of a man she has. It was pretty funny because Becky came off like, “Yea, whatever.” Tyler is all about bubble gum and rainbows.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning to deliver his post Super Bowl commentary. He went off on how boring the game was and then turned his focus to something we can all appreciate…Brittany Spears’ tight little pants.

Brian Houston went out to the parking lot a couple of times during the show to check on the icy conditions outside. He reported on those who fell down, some of which he laughed at, others he helped. He also reported on some property damage he saw as cars slid through the lot into snow banks and other parked cars. For some fun, Brain slid down a small incline in the ice-covered parking lot a couple of times. He tried to convince people coming to work in the building to slide down the ice with him. A few people joined him while others weren’t interested at all. Later in the show a listener named Ron brought some sleds for Brain to ride down the ice in. Donnie went out at that time and tried to ride two sleds at once. He ended up losing control, crashing and getting soaked in slush. At one point in the show, Brian reported that a lady named Lisa had nearly slid into the back of Todd’s truck in the parking lot. TnT talked to her on Brian’s cell phone.

As talk of the Super Bowl party continued, TnT spent some time talking about how the local Fox news affiliate botched their reporting on the party. You see, a few of TnT’s listeners had convinced a Washington DC sports radio host who is carried on Todd and Tyler’s sister station, Sports 1490, to come to Omaha for Todd and Tyler’s Super Bowl party at the Arena Sports Bar. After taking offers from other listeners around the nation, the guy finally decided to come to Omaha for TnT’s party. As part of the deal, he would be bringing cameras from the Fox Sports Network with him to cover the Super Bowl party. Well, the guy got there and did his thing, enjoyed TnT’s party and butt thong contest and so on. The local Fox affiliate showed up at TnT’s party but didn’t want to talk to them or put them on the air. Their only interest was that their name-related company, Fox Sports Network, was there broadcasting (or recording for broadcast) nationally with the radio guy from Washington DC. TnT were upset that, once again, the local television stations completely ignored the fact that it was their Super Bowl party and the only reason the Fox Sports Network cameras and out-of-town radio guy was there is because TnT’s party was touted as the best party in the nation. The guys spent some time talking about the situation with one of their sales weasels, Dan, and also got Travis’s take on why Fox 42 didn’t give them any love.

Towards the end of the show, TnT spent some time brainstorming more ideas for various island-like shows. They thought they’d continue along the lines of Erection Island that took place last week and came up with two other shows they plan on doing. The first, taking place on Wednesday morning, is called Constipation Island. They plan on getting volunteers to come in studio on Wednesday morning and eat some laxatives and greasy omelets and see which guy can hold off the anal explosion the longest. The second idea they tossed around was that of Lactation Island. It was at this point in the show that the Caffeine Warnings went off. The guys spent the remainder of the show discussing lactation, squirting nipples, the color of breast milk, squirting nipples some more (for distance and accuracy) and more. Perhaps some form of Lactation Island bit will be worked out in the near future.
