| Straight Pimpin ![]() | TnT Show 02-01-2001 Thursday 2-1-01 Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show discussing a variety of things. Todd spoke to his parents on the phone yesterday and they informed him that his grandma isn’t doing well. Unfortunately for Todd, he didn’t bother to ask which of his two living grandmothers his parents were speaking of. He spent a little time dissecting the phone call this morning in order to try to figure out which grandma wasn’t well. Tyler seemed to get a kick out of Todd’s lack of questions when it came to his own family. Brian spent some time detailing how and why he got fired from Fox. It was quite an interesting story that involved the mayor, the little shoving incident Brian got into with a mayoral bodyguard and the former morning show on the local Fox affiliate. Also early in the show, TnT did a little trained counseling for a guy who’s phoneless girlfriend had oddly changed her attitude towards him after he had stopped by her place and found another man chilling on his girlfriend’s couch. The guys tried to get details from the caller, which was like pulling teeth, and then offered up suggestions to assist him. TnT also received some reaction from yesterday’s Defecation Island participants who said they pooped until about 6pm last night. To celebrate Black History month, Todd and Tyler wanted to spend some time taking calls from regular listeners to discuss any influential black person the listener may have known who made a positive effect on their life. They got a wonderful call early in the show from a lady who talked about how her boss had taken her and her friend to get birth control back when they were in high school. The guys shared a few of their own stories about black people in their lives who meant something to them. For Tyler, it was his young niece, for Donnie, it was a man he went to college with, and so on. Several times throughout the show, TnT reintroduced the concept to the listeners and asked for calls but, for the most part, not many folks responded. Also as a part of Black History month, TnT did their first “Moment in Black History” with Tony. Unfortunately, Tony had overslept and didn’t have anything prepared for them. It was pretty funny. The guys had two Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbasses of the Day today. The first was a guy named Scott who was just a dumbass and locked his keys in his vehicle because he was flustered at the thought of getting some. The second was a lady named Dawn who called in for her husband who had just fallen down the stairs and hurt his back. She needed to take him to the hospital to be checked up on but had locked the keys in her car. Due to her odd circumstances, TnT hooked her up with tomorrow’s freebee today. Keep in mind that the Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day is a continuing promotion that any TnT listener can take part in during the hours of their show (until further notice, and only 1 Dumbass per day). The guys got a call from a 16-year-old Bryan High student this morning that wanted to complain about what they were saying about her school. She tried to convince TnT that they were picking on her school and then claimed that the problems TnT had mentioned (the gym teacher/pie eating problem, the suicide problem, the credit card fraud problem and, more recently, the counterfeit money problem) were all way in the past and weren’t representative of the good kids at Bryan High now. TnT pointed out that the reason they said those things about the high school is because they were all true and that particular high school seems to have a higher ratio of bad things happening than some of the other schools. After the young lady had a meltdown on the phone, the guys received an influx of calls from listeners who wanted to comment on their time at Bryan High. Oddly, an overwhelming majority of those people said they didn’t actually graduate from the school. It was rather amusing. I’m sure this young lady’s call will end up filed somewhere next to the “We Yutan students is good and only some of us are cults” call and the Cordon Blue belcher call. The guys got into a big discussion over smoking this morning after the news had discussed a possible ban on smoking in places where food made more money than alcohol and entertainment. Tyler tried to point out that the proposed law wouldn’t affect bars and clubs. A bunch of callers took it upon themselves to phone the show and spew their own political opinions on smoker’s rights. Some wanted smokers to be able to smoke anywhere while others said it should not be tolerated anywhere. After a short time, TnT put an end to the discussion. Sean Gnant from the Funny Bone came in this morning and took some abuse from TnT for a while. He joined in on the topics of the day. At one point, the guys asked Sean about the most influential black person in his life. Sean said he had lost his virginity to a black woman years ago and she was the black person who most positively affected him. TnT wanted to get her on the air but she had gotten married and Sean didn’t know her current last name. There’s really not much more to say about his visit. Catch him at the Funny Bone opening for J. Medicine Hat this weekend. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations or visit http://www.funnyboneomaha.com” target=blank>www.funnyboneomaha.com for information. Towards the end of the show, the guys phoned Julie Cornell to find out how her new baby is doing. She said all is well with their new son, Will. Julie is back on the news now after a 6-week break so the guys talked a bit about her return. Later in the conversation they spoke with her husband Bill Ramby and talked about being a weather geek. Tomorrow is the big Friday show. Tune in as the guys will be having a conversation with Ted Nugent. J. Medicine Hat is scheduled to come in as well. It should be a great Friday show so make sure you tune in from 5:30 to 10am. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
