TnT Show 02-02-2001

Friday 2-2-01

TnT started off their show this morning discussing some hate e-mails they received about their plan to send a rodent across a busy street for their Groundhog’s Day bit. The hate e-mail must have been very vicious because the guys wouldn’t even read it on the air. Then TnT had a discussion about how the animal loving faction of society can love animals so much but be so venomous towards other human beings. The discussion was brought up again later when TnT spoke with Ted Nugent. Also early in the show and spread out throughout it, they played a few Black History Moment clips that Tony recorded for them as well.

Early in the show, TnT got a call from a guy who needed some trained counseling. The guy’s ex-girlfriend left him to go off with her crankhead friends. Her friends got busted and now she wants him back. TnT spent some time trying to get details of exactly what happened and then offered up their suggestions to the caller. They also tried to call the guy’s ex-girlfriend twice but her mother answered the phone both times and wouldn’t let her daughter talk to TnT claiming that her daughter was sleeping. The trained counseling pretty much ended there. TnT were going to try to call the girl again later in the show but they got a little busy discussing some other issues of the day.

Even with the hate e-mails from animal lovers, TnT decided they would still carry out their original Groundhog’s Day celebration plan. The idea was to send a guinea pig across a busy street. Depending on whether or not it made it, TnT would then determine whether or not we’d have an extra 6 weeks of winter. Well, Brian Houston went out to an undisclosed location with the guinea pig, cleverly named Bennington Bob. The name came about after some discussion of the groundhog everyone freaks out over in Pennsylvania. Anyway, once Brian got to the location, he released the guinea pig on the road. After some yelling, it started running across the street and made it to the median then stopped. Brian threw some ice chunks at the little bugger to get it to continue. On it’s way across the second part of the road, a snowplow came and nearly whipped it out. Luckily for the guinea pig, it was able to tuck and roll to safety on the other side of the street! Truthfully, I can’t remember if the animal’s safety warranted 6 more weeks of winter or an early spring. I was too busy laughing to jot down the notes on it. Later in the show, it sounded as if Donnie and Brian might have gotten in trouble from some higher powers for the bit. Tune in Monday to find out if that is indeed the case.

TnT spoke with Ted Nugent today. They talked about how the mayor decided not to award Ted the key to the city and then went on to discuss the lawsuit the Lincoln guy is going to throw at Ted. He also went into a rant about PETA again and had to be strayed away from talking about Jessie Jackson. You can catch Ted at the Omaha Sportsman Show at the Civic this weekend.

The guys spoke with Dave Collins, the principal of Bryan High today. They wanted to give him the opportunity to share some of their airtime so he could talk about some of the good things Bryan High is doing now. After he pointed out various awards and student achievements relating to grads and sports, he turned the phone over to three students. Kevin, a senior, said he listened to the show and talked with TnT about his school achievements. Christine also talked to TnT for a bit about her extra curricular activities. The last student, Toni, had a bit of an attitude and got really snippy with TnT. Then, the principal got back on and he, too, seemed to change his tone as well. After the call, TnT spent some time talking about the discussion they just had and they didn’t sound pleased with the way it went. They spent a good portion of the remainder of the show talking about the call and taking listener reactions to it.

J Medicine Hat came in studio and hung out with TnT this morning. He spent some time talking about recent shows he’s done and he also joined in on the topics of the day. At the time of today’s show, there were only slots open for J’s Sunday night performance. By now, there’s a good chance those are filled up. You can call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 to check. Keep in mind that if you miss out on J’s show this week, he’ll be back at the Bone again towards the end of February.

Right at the end of the show today, TnT got a call from a listener named Mike who became the Todd and Tyler Carl Jarl Dumbass of the Day. TnT phoned the fine folks over at Carl Jarl and had them head out to Mike’s location to assist him.

Well, that’s all for the Friday update. Check back on Monday for a new one. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
