Monday 2-26-01

Todd and Tyler stared off their show this morning discussing their weekends. Tyler went out to see Acoustic Groove and commented on the terrible road conditions Saturday night. He also had good things to say about the new movie “3000 Miles to Graceland”. Todd spent most of his weekend hunkering down because he didn’t feel well. He saw a couple movies including one of last week’s Vegas Trip movies, “Very Bad Things.” Brian was in to do the news, which was filled mostly with horrific stories of fatal accidents. Leave it to Brian to smash all hopes of happiness at 6:05 on a Monday. Luckily, TnT were able to pick the show back up.

TnT called Friday’s Vegas trip winner this morning. Ross, the winner, had already left for work so TnT spent some time talking about the trip with his wife. She sounded pretty cool and was quite happy to be going with her husband on the trip. I believe they’re both Vegas virgins like several of the other winners so far. After their conversation, TnT played a well-edited clip from today’s Vegas movie. Donnie counted something like 26 bleeps in the 1 minute clip. Make sure to tune in tomorrow for yet another Vegas movie and your chance to win a spot on the Party Plane.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a commentary on how bad it sucks being the guy in charge of the bill at a Denny’s breakfast outing. Larry will probably check in again later in the week so stay tuned.

The main topic of this morning’s show seemed to center around people’s infatuation with pretending to be afflicted. There was a recent story about how a group of people went bowling wearing glasses with the center darkened so they could get the feel of being blind. There was another one about a homeless man here in Omaha. Brian then told TnT about how he spent a day with a homeless man when Brian used to work for FOX 42. He detailed his experience for TnT. As you may know, Todd and Tyler hate it when people pretend to be afflicted by something because there’s really no logic in it. The example TnT brought up is when a bunch of West Omaha people got together and spent the night in a mall pretending to be homeless. The guys felt that the outing was nothing more than a campout for rich people so they could feel better about themselves. The reason they feel they way they do is because the people doing the campout have a home to go to when they’re done, whereas real homeless people don’t.

As the conversation continued, TnT, Brian and Donnie spent some time coming up with ways they might be able to help the homeless guy that was featured in the World Herald story (I believe it was a World Herald story). They wanted to get the guy a shed in which he could stand up in because now the man is living in a doghouse behind a business somewhere downtown. They talked about perhaps fixing up his bicycle so he could get around in better weather as well. Brian showed his compassionate republican side by saying he would give the guy some computer paper “so he can make up a resume and get a freak’n job.” The different views of TnT and Brian on the issue made for interesting conversation throughout the show.

Tomorrow night is the big dodge ball game against Malvern. Although TnT haven’t gotten many calls on the game, comparing this match-up to the smack ran by their opponents in the last two games, they did get some reaction this morning. It seems that Malvern had the day off of school and, therefore, the student population didn’t have anything better to do than phone the TnT show. The guys took quite a few phone calls from Malvern high school students who tried to talk up their team of teachers. A few of the students said they were rooting for the Todd and Tyler Traveling Dodge Ball All Stars as well. Due to the fact that the money raised at the dodge ball event will benefit the school’s after prom party, TnT spent time with each of the students who phoned in discussing their plans and dates for the prom.
