| Straight Pimpin ![]() | TnT Show 05-02-2001 Wednesday 5-2-01 Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by discussing the interruptive weather coverage on last night’s local TV stations again. No one in television seems to listen to them even though they are expressing the thoughts of nearly everyone in town. The President’s upcoming visit to Omaha for the College World Series was also an interesting topic during the early segments of the show. TnT both expressed that they feel the President doesn’t actually do any work, rather works out and naps while everyone else in his cabinet takes care of things for him. Brian did the news this morning and it was, yet again, filled with wonderful, heartwarming tales of dead babies and decapitated children. TnT scolded him for it, though, so we might have a happier newscast tomorrow. Actually, we might have a new news chick if Brian’s newscasts don’t start taking a turn for the better. TnT joked with Brian several times after his initial dead baby newscast about firing him but they seemed to have the same sort of demeanor to their jokes as they did right before their last news chick mysteriously disappeared into the vast void of nothingness. Today is Donnie’s 29th birthday and as usual, TnT’s lawyer friend/musicologist Michael came in studio to deliver a present. He dropped off a wrestling instructional video for Donnie and then hung out throughout the show. Donnie’s children called in and sang to their dad on the radio. The guys also spent a little time talking about Todd’s oldest daughter’s birthday, which was just yesterday. TnT announced yesterday’s qualifier for the Car Tune of the Day contest and then played today’s car tune. Stay tuned to the TnT show and Z92 for further contest information. Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on how none of the racing necks will let the Earnhardt death die. We’ll probably be hearing from Larry again on Friday so keep tuned in. The guys spent some time discussing Prom this morning. Todd’s oldest son is headed to his first prom with a girl who’s a little older. Todd discussed the cost of the ordeal and said that he tried to talk his son into letting he and Tyler speak with his date on the air but his son wouldn’t give up her phone number. TnT reminisced about their days in high school going to proms and then took some phone calls from listeners with stories to share. Donnie, Brian and Travis also joined in on the topic. Mayor Hal Daub came in studio this morning and hung out with TnT for a couple of hours. Right off the bat, Todd and Tyler asked Hal about the naming of his new puppy. They hammered him a little bit but they mayor didn’t seem to mind. During their conversation, TnT talked with the mayor about how the office should be nonpartisan and the Hal seemed to agree. He even pointed out that he’s got a split of Democrats and Republicans in his own administration. The new image of Omaha was also brought up. We’re all aware that TnT, along with everyone else they’ve spoken to, don’t like the new slogan. The mayor sort of agreed with them, stating that perhaps there was a better alternative. During the mayor’s with TnT, he answered some questions from listeners who phoned the show and talked further about some of the good things he’s done for the city. He seemed to be enjoying himself with Todd and Tyler and, at one point, even slipped into a pretty convincing Yoda voice. Early in the show, Donnie informed TnT that he’d set up an interview with Dan Hagerty, also known as “Grizzly Adams” from the old 70’s TV show. TnT dubbed Dan a “C-list” guest and gave Donnie a hard time about seldom getting them decent interviews. Donnie then explained the scenario about how he got Dan Hagerty to agree to talk to them on the phone. It involved a tale about how TnT were making up their own list of the top 10 70s TV icons in which Dan appeared. When the time came for the interview, the guys reluctantly went through with it. Surprisingly, it took them only 30 seconds to change their mind on Dan Hagerty. He was actually funny, cool and interesting! He talked with TnT about his days living in Brazil and working on the Tarzan television show set, being Mr. Brazil, all the Brazilian pie he got and more. Then, he went on to discuss how he built the motorcycles shown in the film classic “Easy Rider”. As the conversation continued, the guys touched on his other acting achievements and how he got the part for “Grizzly Adams”, which somehow involved a story about chasing down tigers on horseback. Towards the end of the interview, Dan got off on a story about being a host for a midget beauty pageant and what it was like to not only have 30 midgets in your home at once, but what it was like to knock it out with one. Todd and Tyler were pleasantly surprised by their interview with Dan. He was awesome and seemed to enjoy his time with Todd and Tyler. The guys even decided they’d move him from the “C-list” to the “A-list” after the stellar interview. I’m sure the guys will speak with Dan Hagerty again in the future. Tune in on Saturday for the Best Of show if you happened to miss today’s show. It’ll be worth it to catch this interview again. Well, that’s all for today’s update. Check back tomorrow for the Thursday version. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
