TnT Show 05-07-2001

5-7-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning discussing a variety of things that happened over the weekend. There was lots of political news to cover as the World Herald decided to back Fahey. The guys also talked about the Fahey flyer circulating that said something to the effect of, “Vote for Fahey or Omaha will go to Hal”. TnT joked about seeing Daub on TV at the Cinco De Mayo parade down town wearing a sombrero and yelling “Viva Mexico” to the camera. They found that to be rather amusing considering most of the people at the parade had left Mexico to live here.

The guys were scheduled to play in the Junior Bryant celebrity golf tournament on Saturday morning but didn’t attend due to the poor weather. They found out that the tournament went on anyway and thought that the publicity they gave the event more than made up for them not being there. It was pouring rain, after all! Well, moving on to the next early morning item of discussion without any reasonable transition, I’ll continue. Donnie’s backyard wrestling character, Huska, lost his foil and cardboard belt last night. The guys spent a little time talking about that but then moved on.

Also early in the show, TnT discussed reactions they received to Bobby Slayton’s treatment of Travis on Friday’s show. Some of the people they spoke with felt Bobby was too hard on Travis and claimed that they wouldn’t go see his show at the Funny Bone for that reason. When Travis came in, they continued talking about it. Travis said that he did take a pretty good verbal beating from Bobby on Friday but he didn’t seem to mind. He pointed out that he could have left at any time but chose to stay the extra segments of the show because, “It was good radio”. Travis said later that he met with Bobby at the Funny Bone when he went to see his late show on Friday night. He went on to mention that Bobby came to talk to him and was actually a pretty nice guy to Travis.

Todd and Tyler announced details of their golf tournament this morning. The event is going to take place on Friday, May 25th at the Stone Creek Golf Course. The course is located somewhere around 180th and Ida or, perhaps, near 160th and Fort. The exact location of the course was not known this morning but I’m sure TnT will have full details for tomorrow’s show. Anyway, the entrance fee for the tournament is $92 per person. The price includes 18 holes, a polo tee shirt in either Steelers or Vikings colors, some Z-92 balls, a Todd and Tyler towel and lunch. You’re going to have to purchase your own drinks so make sure to bring some extra cash. TnT will be talking about the tournament daily from now until the event so keep tuned for updated information. Oh yea, Todd and Tyler also suggest that you come to the Z-92 studio on 108th and John Galt Boulevard as soon as possible to register for the event, as it tends to sell out at light speed!

Larry the Cable Guy phoned in this morning and delivered one of the funnier commentaries we’ve heard from him in some time. The premise behind his commentary revolved around his sponsoring of a boy, who I assume lives in Africa although I can’t recall if Larry specifically said that. The boy’s name is Boobla Boobla and Larry read a letter Boobla Boobla wrote to him as this morning’s commentary. It was very funny. Larry will check in again later in the week so stay tuned.

The guys spent some time this morning discussing a list of the 100 best videos as selected by VH-1. They read through some of the videos that were selected for the list and talked about many of them. They discussed why they felt some videos deserved or didn’t deserve to be on the list. TnT featured a few tunes from the list as well and stated that even though they might not have particularly cared for some of the songs featured on the list, the video that corresponded with such songs were still pretty cool. I believe the 100 best videos thing will start airing n VH-1 today so check it out.

Todd and Tyler had a lengthy conversation with Mike Hastings, coach of the Omaha Lancers. The Lancers went to Chicago over the weekend to compete for the Gold Cup and returned victorious as National Champs. Mike talked about the games they played in Chicago and recapped the season in general. Congratulations Lancers!

The Kentucky Derby was held over the weekend so the guys spent a little time talking about the event. Even though the guys aren’t huge horse racing fans, both watched the race. As the conversation continued, they moved on to talking about horse racing in general and, later, about the life of a horse sent out to “stud”. They took some calls from listeners who filled them in on various methods of stud-ness, including the use of an artificial vagina (it’s a medical term, stop giggling) and the natural method of baby horse creation.

That’s it for the Monday update. Check back here tomorrow for the Tuesday version. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-

PS It’s an odd day when you have to add the words “Huska” and “Boobla” to your spell checker.
