Tuesday 5-8-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by reading a piece of hate e-mail they received yesterday. To recap, late in yesterday’s show, the guys talked about horse racing. Some horse owner decided to make up a song that referenced a few disciples. The guy also included Earnhardt’s name in the tune in place of one of the disciples. TnT played the tune yesterday and commented on the amount of suckage the song represented. Well, the e-mail this morning was yet another example of people bitching at TnT over the Earnhardt death.

Todd and Tyler spent some time discussing huge rodents this morning. You see Donnie is having a problem with a massive raccoon that has been invading his back yard in Benson. He wants to get rid of the beast before it eats his children. He came on the air to discuss his predicament and find out how he can eliminate the monster. Surprisingly, our favorite Neck proclaimed that he didn’t want to blast the varmint with his shotgun and sounded as if he truly wanted to remove the animal from his property in a humane way.

The guys talked about calling the Humane Society or various animal control specialists in the area and then took some calls on the man-eating raccoon subject. One guy suggested that Donnie put out some chicken bones coated in anti-freeze but once again iterating his desire for a humane dispersal of the creature, Donnie declined. A few listeners all concurred with an earlier revelation that Donnie was going to have to catch the raccoon in a live trap himself before anyone would be willing to come and take it away. Later in the show, TnT mentioned that their old buddy Rumpy had dropped off a live trap for Donnie so he wouldn’t have to pay to rent one. I’m sure we’ll get an update on the twisted tales of a Neck in the Hood tomorrow so tune in!

Todd and Tyler recorded an interview with Paul Rogers of Bad Company yesterday. They played the interview for us this morning. They spoke with Paul about his days in Bad Company and touring solo and then moved on to talking about their current tour with Styx and how that came about. It was a pretty cool interview that will surely end up being replayed on a Best Of somewhere down the line. Keep in mind that you can catch Bad Company and Styx on Tuesday the 15th at the Civic.

Kevin McKenzie from Great Plains Counseling Center came in this morning and hung out with Todd and Tyler. Kevin had called the show a few weeks ago to comment on how TnT handle the trained counseling of their callers and seemed to think that the guys did a pretty good job. Well, Todd and Tyler invited Kevin to come in studio to be a sort of Dr. Ed of the mind for the show. He arrived this morning and brought with him Brandy the suicide hottie, but she didn’t speak much.

TnT spent several hours discussing mental health in general, talking about how messed up Donnie is and taking phone calls from listeners who wanted some help. As Kevin passed out the serious answers, TnT, Donnie and Brian offered their slightly more light-hearted fixes to the callers’ problems. The experience was pretty cool and reminded me very much of a Dr. Ed visit, except instead of having people ask why there are purple lumps on their penises, today’s callers asked and where answered such questions as, “Why do I hit my boyfriend?” and “Even though I’ve given my common law husband permission to sleep around on me, why won’t he still love me?” There were indeed some strange questions this morning but it was very entertaining. TnT will probably have Kevin back in studio in the future so stay tuned. Oh yea, if you’re a nutjob, call Great Plains Counseling Center at 292-7712 and they can do their best to help you out.

Tomorrow, Todd and Tyler will be joined by Dr. Ed. Mayoral candidate Mike Fahey will also come in for a little pre-election ass kissing.
