Monday 5-21-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about the party mayor elect Mike Fahey’s daughter threw and got busted for over the weekend. Evidently, his daughter lives with his ex-wife in Linden Estates and through a 400-person party while her mother was out of town. Todd and Tyler got a few calls from people who were actually at the Fahey’s daughter’s party. They gave first hand accounts of things that went on and confirmed that the house was, indeed, thoroughly trashed as the news stated. The guys spent some time talking about beer party memories from when they were younger and then took calls from some listeners who had similar stories.

TnT sent Big Pussy and the indestructible Husker cell phone from First Wireless out today. Big Pussy put the cell phone between some railroad tracks and let Todd and Tyler listen to the sounds of the world’s longest train as it rolled inches above the phone. Surprisingly, it survived and the audio from the underside of the train was actually pretty cool. After Pussy returned, he hung around the show all morning in order to increase his timecard numbers for the week. Cha-ching.

The guys spent some time this morning discussing their upcoming “What Would You Do” contest taking place at the Mazda Miata giveaway this Saturday. They talked about a few ideas for things people could do to win the contest and mentioned that they’ll talk much more about it tomorrow. Basically, the guys are going to pick the top 5 suggestions and put those 5 contestants against each other at the Miata giveaway remote Saturday afternoon. They’re giving away 5 keys for a chance to win the Miata, $92 and the winner of the contest will also get a trip to see Aerosmith this summer. Tune in tomorrow for further details and start thinking up your ideas for the contest now so you can phone them in tomorrow.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on the Blonde Legal Defense Fund, a group of people who are sick and tired of blonde jokes. It was rather funny. He also talked about the upcoming Larry the Cable Guy Day, in which he had no clue what it is actually going to entail. Larry will also be appearing at the Funny Bone shortly. Stay tuned all week for more from Larry.

During Brian’s entertainment report, he mentioned that there is the possibility of Hollywood creating a “Hogan’s Heroes” movie. The guys spent some time talking about the show and then went on to discuss various actors they’d like to see in the “Hogan’s Heroes” rolls. They came up with stars such as Charlie Sheen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith and a few others. After a while, Todd realized that the budget for the movie would have to be huge in order to pay for all of the very popular actors. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of the concept of a $60 million budget for a “Hogan’s Heroes” movie.

During their discussion of “Hogan’s”, Donnie phoned Larry Hovis who appeared on the program. He teaches acting at Southwest Texas University now and the guys have talked to him in the past about his time on the television show. TnT asked about Larry’s feelings about the movie and wanted to know if he’s been contacted for a cameo; Larry had not. When the guys read the list of people they thought would be good in the movie, Larry laughed heavily. He said he’d like to see “J Lo” play him. Larry then told TnT about his summer plans, which include a vacation to Alaska and taking part in a few high school drama camps around his area.

Another large topic on the show this morning centered around famous people who are over rated based on looks, not talent. The guys took lots of phone calls from listeners who wanted to tell them who they felt wasn’t as attractive as everyone else seems to believe. The discussion brought forth many differences of opinion as Todd and Tyler disagreed with each other and, individually, with a few of the calls throughout the show. There was no right or wrong answer, TnT just wanted to see who everyone else felt was over rated. Both men and women called with their Hollywood stars and, as a listener, I found myself agreeing and disagreeing with some of the callers just as TnT did. Of course, I don’t see how Todd could say that Cameron Diaz does nothing for him. That’s just plain crazy talk!
