TnT Show 06-11-2001

Monday 6-11-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by discussing some things that took place over the weekend. Both of the guys attended various CWS games and Donnie spent some time shuttling baseball fans around the area in the Chub. The guys talked about some Kevin Costner sightings as well as the President’s appearance at the CWS. Todd went fishing and Tyler answered his cell phone while going to the bathroom at the baseball game. Tyler’s dad, Ed, ate a gyro but survived because it was a chicken gyro and not filled with tainted lamb.

TnT spent some time discussing the McVeigh execution that took place while they were on the air this morning. They played their version of what the audio from the execution might have sounded like which was basically Corky getting a lethal injection. It was quite funny especially when Corky murmured something about pudding right before he finally keeled over. TnT talked briefly about the protests and prayer ceremonies going on all over the country but didn’t carry the discussion much further as they seemed to be trying to avoid an onslaught of anti and pro death penalty callers from bringing the show down.

During one of Brian’s newscasts, he asked Todd and Tyler if they thought there was anything wrong with a guy throwing a Pampered Chef party. TnT, of course, said there was nothing wrong with it if you are gay. Brian tried to justify his desire to throw a Pampered Chef party by saying that he had spoken with several guys who enjoy cooking and they all said the would attend such an event. TnT continued to give Brian a hard time about it for the remainder of the show and said that even if he disguised the party as a “couples party”, if a guy was throwing it, he was probably gay. Also, Donnie re-edited the “I don’t know. Maybe because you’re gay” clip with the “So I’m a lawn geek” audio clip and the finalized version was along the lines of “So I’m a gay lawn geek.” TnT played it throughout the show and even got a few hate calls from homophobic lawn geeks who were pissed at TnT for assuming all lawn geeks are gay.

The College World Series was one of the main topics throughout the show today. TnT spent a great deal of time talking about the games they attended and the people they met. Believe it or not, Todd and Tyler did not dwell too heavily on the Husker’s loss. There was, of course, the occasional reference to the Huskers being the first and only team eliminated from the tournament so far but all in all, TnT didn’t talk about the team’s loss too much. The guys spoke with the father of Brandon Eymann, Kirk Eymann, who has phoned the show many times over the past few months to talk about the team. He said the team was disappointed to lose and discussed some oddities in the coaching style in which he seemed to blame the loss on. He also seemed bummed out that his son didn’t actually get to play in the game.

Well, that’s about it for the update today. Make sure to tune in tomorrow from 5:30 to 10 am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
