TnT Show 06-14-2001

Thursday 6-14-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing the coverage of last night’s severe weather. A tornado touched down and someone had video taped it, making for impressive footage. TnT also talked about Bill Ramby’s coverage of the storm and how they felt that he was upset by the questions Julie Cornell was asking, most of which he had answered just before she asked the question.

Also early in the show, TnT phoned two baseball fans who were en route from Phoenix to Omaha to catch some of the CWS. Mike and Jay had left Phoenix at about 5 pm last night and were expecting to get into town around 4 pm today. Todd and Tyler spoke with the two several times as the show went on and tracked their progress across America.

TnT had heard that another Husker had gotten busted but they weren’t able to find any information on it in the Omaha World Herald. Luckily, the Lincoln Journal Star reported on the situation and a few of TnT’s Lincoln listeners phoned them with the article in front of them. They read over the article, which stated that Thunder Collins was cited for a domestic dispute involving his 19-year-old girlfriend somewhere on campus. A headlock, some arm biting and even body scratching were among the things reported to have taken place. TnT spent a good portion of this morning’s show discussing Thunder and how the Huskers would most likely be back on top of their game now that they’ve got another alleged “thug” on the team. Another Husker training film was produced this morning that related to Thunder’s problems. It was quite humorous. Donnie also worked up a great sound clip of some fighting mixed over a bit of AC/DC’s “Thunder Struck”. I dropped my Walkman due to my jiggling belly caused by laughter. I’m sure TnT will be talking about this for quite some time so if you missed any of it today, it’s bound to resurface as football season draws nearer.

Sean Gnant from the Funny Bone came in studio and hung out with TnT. He joined in on the topics of the day. You can catch Sean opening up for J Medicine Hat all weekend at the Funny Bone. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

During Brian’s entertainment news, he read a few wedding announcements. He’s been doing this for some time in an effort to point out how silly it is that brides and grooms print their sororities and fraternities along with their key clubs and other college-related things that don’t mean anything to anyone in the real world. As he did so, the guys noticed that one of the grooms’ last name was “Faggot”. Well, they had a little fun with it because it’s public record once it gets printed in the paper. A few minutes into their diatribe, the bride of that particular wedding announcement called the show and was incredibly mad. TnT explained to her the rules behind what they can and cannot say on the air but the woman insisted on speaking to their boss. Unfortunately, there was a glitch in the phone system at that time and the angry caller got disconnected. From there, TnT spent some time joking around about the entire situation and, on occasion, callers and the comic guest re-referenced the guy’s name with their own jokes.

Towards the end of the show, Donnie brought in a questionnaire that was sent to him by the people putting together his 10-year class reunion. TnT read over the questions and spent some time helping Donnie answer them.

As TnT wrapped up today’s show, Lynn Taylor came in studio with a video camera. She is one of the finalists to be on a VH1 show that, I believe, is called “Fanatic”. The premise of the show is to take a band’s most whacked out fan and let him or her meet the band they freak out about. Of course, Lynn’s band is Creed. She came in to talk about how she was chosen as a finalist and got video of everyone telling VH1 how nuts she is over the band. She sopped as she discussed the concerts she’s been to, her wall of Creed, her tattoo of Creed and everything else Creed-related in her life. She basically exploded with Creedness for ten minutes or so. I’m sure we’ll here whether or not she was chosen for the VH1 show soon so stay tuned.

Well, that’s the update for today. Check back tomorrow for the Friday version. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
