TnT Show 07-23-2001

Monday 7-23-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by discussing the Bobcat Goldwaith shows at the Funny Bone over the weekend. Everyone really seemed to enjoy his performance and they were happy Bobcat joined them on their Friday show. The heat was an early morning topic as TnT discussed the cabin fever they’re feeling because it’s too hot to do anything outside. Todd mentioned he was a bit crabby due to the heat but he didn’t seem to come across like it during this morning’s show. Also early on, Brian brought in the letter he received from the government stating how much of a tax credit he will be getting. TnT spent some time taking calls and answering questions relating to the refund. The guys also spoke about the poor quality of news stories that aired last evening on the 10 o’clock news as upset softball players and the death of a former Husker’s mother sadly seemed to be the two biggest stories in town.

Dave Rimington came in studio today and hung out with Todd and Tyler for several hours. He was in town over the weekend doing a football camp for kids. The guys had heard that Eric Crouch was there but had to leave early due to not feeling so well. It was rumored that the heat might have gotten to Crouch. At that point, Donnie went off on the Husker QB. The football season is just around the corner and Donnie was pretty livid thinking that the quarterback isn’t going to be able to handle the heat while playing football in the late August temperatures. As the show progressed, TnT spoke with Dave about his career as a Husker and his time in the NFL. Dave shared quite a few interesting stories about other players, coaches and various situations he was in relating to football throughout his years on the line. Oh, he also spoke of Via-cream, the viagra for women. TnT got a sample bottle of it and will be doing something with it this week. Stay tuned!

Larry the Cable Guy phoned in this morning and delivered a commentary on the WNBA. As I’m sure you can imagine, Larry is not a fan of the sport and ranted about how horrible it was and how the media is constantly trying to shove it down our throats. Larry also spent a moment or two juicing over the former Husker TnT had in studio.

During Dave’s time on the show, the topic of wacky gym injuries came up. TnT spent some time taking calls from listeners who had stories to share. One guy had got the tip of his penis caught in an exercise machine and ripped it a bit. Another guy shared a story about seeing someone drop a 45 lb. weight on one of his testicles. Donnie talked about how a guy he knew who got the tip of one of his fingers sliced off by another exercise machine and then carried around that fingertip on a necklace to inspire him for the football season.

Jeff Davis, an actor appearing in the new NBC show “The Downer Channel” premiering tomorrow night spoke with TnT today to promote the new program. He said that the show will be similar to Saturday Night Live but the skits will be a bit shorter in length. They are also using real footage and changing it into a humorous situation even though they are not specifically going to be a reality TV show. Jeff also talked with TnT about his career and his time on “Who’s Line Is It Anyway”, the improvisation show hosted by Drew Carey. Check out The Downer Channel tomorrow night. It should be a nice change of pace from reality programming and the increasingly boring realm of the comedy sitcom.

TnT spoke with Kenny Main from ESPN’s Sports Center and “2 Minute Drill” programs. He was on his way to the office while talking to TnT and commented on his progress throughout the interview. They discussed the behind-the-scenes stuff for Sports Center and went on to talk about “2 Minute Drill” as well. Kenny was a pretty funny guy. Check him out on ESPN. I have no idea what time any of his shows air but I’m sure if you’re a sports fan, you’ll be able to find him on ESPN.

Well, that’s the Monday update. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for another update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
