TnT Show 08-27-2001

Monday 8-27-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by playing some very old sound clips recorded from when they first arrived in town. Many of you may remember the old “I’m so-and-so and Todd and Tyler are neat guys” spots that used to run throughout the TnT show back in the old days. Well, the guys brought out a few of those old clips again and had a nice moment of reminiscing while playing them. TnT also spent a bit of time discussing items in Brian’s newscast, their weekends in general and, of course, the Husker game that took place on Saturday. The guys seemed very unimpressed by the Husker’s performance.

Tyler received a pyramid scheme-ish form letter in the mail recently and brought it in today to share with us all. The letter said that Tyler was to send one dollar to the 5 addresses listed and then purchase a mailing list of 100 other names. Using that mailing list, he was to add his name to the bottom of the original five names, in essence, moving off the top name, and then send the same letter out to the 100 people from the mailing list he was to purchase The claims within the letter were a bit exaggerated, as the author stated he had made more than $33,000 each time he did it.

The guys wanted to get a bit further into the details of the scheme. They picked up the phones and spent about a half hour dialing information trying to locate any of the five people on the list that Tyler was supposed to send $1 to. They got a hold of an old, deaf guy in Oregon named Bob. Bob said that he had received about $25 or 30 dollars from the letters so far, after only about 3 weeks. Surprisingly, Bob was pretty cool with TnT even though he seemed like a very old guy and, well, it was just after 5am his time when TnT reached him. Later, they got a hold of the mother of one of the other people on the list. The lady said her daughter had received some money, too but wouldn’t say how much. When TnT eluded to it being a large amount, the mother laughed it off and said that her daughter had not received a large amount of money participating in the letter scheme.

TnT spent a little bit of time trying to work out details of a Todd and Tyler 3-Some club after getting a follow-up call from the man who inspired their 3-some talk show last week. The guys spoke with that man and his wife who said that she wasn’t entirely apposed to letting her husband jump in with her and another woman. She just didn’t want her husband to bang away on the other lady, just her. Further details of the Todd and Tyler 3-Some club may become available in the future. You are urged to phone the TnT show and discuss the club, it’s concept or 3-somes at any time. 962-1200 or 1-800-955-9230 or FAX: 596-WHAT or e-mail todd@z92.com.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on the Little League World Series. Larry’s basic take on the whole thing seemed to center on the how the team representing the New York area was filled with people of non-white, non-redneck players. Larry also shared some details about his upcoming performance in Lincoln. He will be appearing at the Royal Grove on September 21st for an 8pm show. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week moves along.

When Travis came in this morning, the guys spent a bit of time discussing the Husker game. TnT were of the opinion that the Huskers didn’t look very good. Travis was at a wedding so he didn’t actually get to watch the game. During the discussion, TnT fielded two hate e-mails. One referenced TnT’s discussion over the unproven Husker Thunder Collins. The other hate e-mail was from someone who was very upset at comments Travis made earlier in the show about how the only decent band to watch in the Big 12 is Texas A&M. The author of the e-mail mentioned how hard the UNL band works but it didn’t seem to phase Travis’s opinions on the magnitude of awesomeness exhibited by the Texas A&M squad. By the way, Travis’s Lock of the Week didn’t come in. Oklahoma did win their game but were unable to cover the spread. Perhaps Attaboy Trav will have a bit better luck on his Lock next week. Stay tuned.

Later in the show, TnT reintroduced the discussion about the pyramid scheme letter Tyler received. During their conversation, Brian mentioned an idea that was dubbed “Borrow A Buck”. The concept was that if you were to borrow $1 from one million people, you would be set. TnT thought it was a stupid idea because there’s no way you would be able to have the time to borrow one dollar from one million people. Putting Brian’s idea to the test, on a rather limited scale, Donnie set off to the Cubicle Jungle and returned within 5 minutes with $10 of borrowed cash. TnT were amused that Bankruptcy Donnie was able to weasel $10 out of their co-workers and they eventually made Donnie return the money.

As TnT wrapped up the show this morning, Travis spent a few moments working out the details for Brian’s “Borrow A Buck” infomercial. Donnie produced a commercial for the “Send Donnie A Dollar” program. After TnT aired the commercial, they spent a bit of time analyzing the wording Donnie had used in the script to make sure that they weren’t breaking any laws by soliciting their listeners for dollar bills. It was pretty funny stuff. I’m sure we’ll hear more about the scheme in coming days so stay tuned.

Well, that’s about it for the Monday update. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here later in the afternoon for the update. FYI- the updates are going to be posted a bit later in the afternoon now, as I am back in school and won’t have access to a PC until around 3pm. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
