TnT Show 09-10-2001

Monday 9-10-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing their weekends. As you can imagine, the football intake of our favorite radio hosts was pretty high. Tyler had a little get-together in his K State room where Husker fans and non-Husker fans alike checked out Saturday night’s big game. Most of the people at the party stayed close to his bar and, therefore watched the game on a 9-inch TV set instead of his big screen. Tyler said he was severely hung over on Sunday due to the mixing of massive quantities of tequila and beer the night before. He seemed barely able to enjoy his “NFL Ticket” programming and the fact that his Steelers got slaughtered didn’t make it any easier for him to cope with the hangover either. Continuing the football on a small TV theme, Todd watched his Vikings get waxed on a 4-inch hand held TV while he was attending his son’s little league football game. His son’s team was defeated as well.

TnT went into some detail about the Husker game as well as covering the ESPN Game Day broadcast that supposedly broke a new record. They pondered how long it would take the network to pull the plug on doing such broadcasts with a live, drunken audience.

The one-eyed Brian came in to do the news this morning. You see, he was sharpening his mower blade the other day and had gotten a sliver of metal lodged in his eye. He told TnT about the surgery performed to remove the metal, which consisted of the doctor numbing his eye with a special juice and then picking the metal and associated rust ring off of his ball. He said his eye was supposed to get drilled to remove the rust ring but for some reason, it was just picked out instead. When he mentioned the drill to the eye, medical expert Donnie didn’t believe him. Later in the show, the doctor phoned in and confirmed that you can indeed drill and eyeball.

TnT spent a bit of time today talking about the “Girls of the SEC” issue of Playboy. It was clear to TnT that lots of the southern hotties in the issue had shaved pies. The guys wondered exactly when the wolf puss went out of style and totally bald pies became the norm. They opened up their phone lines to any wolf pusses but none checked in. Instead, a couple of guys phoned to talk about wolf pusses they had dated. One guy ratted out his ex-wife for having a jungle bush, which I found pretty amusing. By the way, you can check out TnT’s “Girls of the GPAC” to view some of the hotties local colleges have to offer.

The guys were e-mailed a link to the Nebraska Radio Hall of Fame web site and spent some time talking about some of the people on the list. TnT, Donnie, Brian and Travis didn’t recognize many of the names on the list and concluded that the website was built, devoted to and maintained by radio geeks who they’ve kicked the ass of.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on Jarred, the Subway walking former fat guy. I believe he also slipped in the obligatory bigoted remark as well. You can catch Larry at the Royal Grove in Lincoln on September 21st and stay tuned for more of Larry on the Todd and Tyler show.

TnT spoke with Ken Hatfield this morning. He’s the coach of the Rice football team that will be taking on the Huskers this weekend. Ken talked a bit about the Rice team and the challenge they are facing taking on the Huskers. Their starting QB was just injured in 2-a-days so there is yet another hurdle for Rice. TnT also discussed the W.A.C. as well as going into some detail with Ken about Fresno State’s football team. Ken was a pretty cool guy and it’s nice to hear that TnT were able to get him on the air.

Tyler brought in an old 45 that he had dug up while visiting his dad back in Pennsylvania recently. The album was a recording of his brother-in-law made around 30 years ago. The audio was something I wasn’t familiar with but I guess people a bit more mature than I might be. The idea of the recording was that someone would ask questions of the football players, in this case, the Steelers, and instead of actually playing real audio of the response, there would be audio clips of songs popular at the time that would answer the question in a humorous fashion. Tyler played the whole clip and then the guys spent some time reminiscing about the old recordings and talking about their memories of other similar bits of radio history.

Throughout this morning’s show, TnT played the “Because I Got High” song as bumper music and continued their discussion on the song and how it really seems to relate to Todd. The guys played the song in it’s entirety a couple of times to give their listeners the chance to hear it unedited.

Towards the end of the show, TnT got a call from a 16-year-old Dodge High student who wanted to ask them some questions for an English paper he was working on. The questions all seemed to center on why some people don’t like TnT and think they are the downfall of society. TnT talked to the caller about his inquiries and then answered his questions.

To wrap up the show, TnT spoke with their friend Rob McCartney of Channel 7. Rob had heard TnT refer to him as the Devil, as Rob has been telling people via the news how to make “Wet”, the embalming fluid coated pot concoction. He seemed to get a kick out of TnT thinking he was the Devil. Before they let him go, TnT talked with Rob briefly about how his 10pm news broadcast is going to be pushed back on Monday nights for the next 17 weeks or so due to MNF. Rob seemed less than pleased but said that it would occasionally give him the chance to jet home and eat with his family before going back on the air at the later time. Check Rob out on Channel 7. He’s got the most wicked eyebrows in television.

Todd and Tyler will be at the Arena Sports Bar tonight for the first installment of Monday Night Football of the season. The Arena has some new smoke eaters, which pleased Tyler greatly. They are going to move the time of the field goal kicking contest to before the game begins so make sure to get their early. The winner of the contest will get a couple of tickets to see Larry the Cable Guy perform at the Royal Grove in Lincoln in a few weeks. I believe the winner also gets to sit in “the best seat in the house” cushy chair tonight. It should be a great time so stop on out and join the guys.

That’s the update for today. Tune in tomorrow from 5:46am to 10:17am for another show and then check back here for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
