TnT Show 09-14-2001

Friday 9-14-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by checking in with the Z-92 staff at the Salvation Army location on 38th and Cumming Street. All of the supplies that have been gathered over the past few days were going to be shipped out shortly after 9am today. At first report, nearly $169,000 has been raised to help the rescue and recovery efforts taking place in New York. The Freak stayed at the location throughout the show and Todd and Tyler checked in with him several times. They continued taking donations up until the time the trucks left for New York City.

TnT continued taking phone calls all morning long and discussed a variety of things with their listeners. The terrorist attack was still a main topic of conversation as was the affects of the cancellation of various sporting events this weekend. TnT also talked about the new “Rare, Well Done” commercial that is airing in Omaha to promote Omaha. Donnie described the commercial to TnT because they haven’t seen it yet. They all don’t understand why the commercial would be advertising the city to people who live in the city. Shouldn’t that commercial be airing on television networks in other states? What good does it do to show it here? TnT also discussed Jerry Falwell’s comments about how gays, lesbians, feminists and pagans are responsible for the terrorist attacks that took place on Tuesday.

Travis came in this morning to do sports. With the exception of the UNO game and a few high school events, there wasn’t much for him to talk about due to the cancellations. Attaboy seemed to put all of the effort he normally uses in selecting a Lock of the Week into this week’s Box selection. His Box of the Week is Grace Jones.

Mark Cordes from the Funny Bone came in studio this morning and hung out with TnT. He joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to have a good time with TnT. Check Mark out at the Funny Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

The Fish Heads stopped by the studio this morning and played a few tunes for TnT. They did a flawless version of “Cats in the Freezer” and followed it up with a little “Because I got High”, both songs TnT have requested they learn in recent weeks. The Fish Heads will also be playing at the Anchor Inn from 5pm to 7pm. The Tommy Craft Memorial Poker Run is going to conclude there shortly before. After 7pm, the Pheromones will be taking the stage.

That’s about it for the update today. Tune in on Monday from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
