Thursday 9-20-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show discussing tonight’s Husker game. The game is not being shown on TV so many Husker fans will most likely be listening to it on the AM station that will be broadcasting it. The President is scheduled to speak with Congress tonight as well. TnT spent a great deal of time talking about whether or not the AM radio station will switch from the Husker game to airing the President’s speech and if they do, what would the reaction of Husker fan be? Donnie came in and played the roll of “dumb guy”, stating that he didn’t understand why the President’s speech tonight was important. Basically, Donnie said that nothing the President has said so far was worth a crap and unless he’s going to give the country details on the military actions soon to be taken, it was pointless for him to speak to the nation and, therefore, there would be no reason for the Husker game to be interrupted. After calling him an idiot a couple of times, TnT sent Donnie out to pick up some breakfast for them. While he was away, the guys took unscreened phone calls for a segment and were surprised at how not so bad the unscreened calls were.

Also early in the show, Tyler mentioned a dream he had last night that was, for lack of a better explanation, just plain whacked. He and his fiancé were sitting in a jeep and Lee Corso from ESPN gave him a gift out of the back of a huge truck. Inside the package was a mattress cover, which Tyler was happy to get in the dream. Slave Boy Chris was in the dream and asked Tyler about the mattress cover. Tyler’s response was, “You’re mom wanted one.” Basically, the entire dream was a setup for Tyler to drop the mom card on Slave Boy Chris. Everyone found it quite amusing and the gang spent a bit of time trying to analyze exactly what the dream may have meant. During their analysis, Slave Boy Chris’s brother phoned the show and said that he and Chris had taken their mother to the hospital yesterday, where she remained this morning. Tyler had no prior knowledge of this and was a bit freaked out by his apparent psychic premonition via the mom card.

Todd and Tyler spent a large chunk of the middle of their show talking about a list of the 100 greatest TV characters as listed in an issue of For Him Magazine. The guys opened up the phone lines and talked amongst themselves as they tried to guess some of the characters on the list. Throughout their discussion, it became obvious that there were many exclusions and over sites, as TnT found out that the list lacked such characters as the Fonz and anyone from such shows as “The Andy Griffith Show” or “Happy Days”. I, personally, didn’t hear anyone mention Lucy or Ricky, which I thought was very strange. Anyway, to wrap up their discussion, TnT went over the top 15 characters on the list, which concluded with the #1 character of all time, Homer Simpson.

A band called Down To Here made their first appearance on the Todd and Tyler show this morning. They played a couple of songs and really sounded great. You can catch them both Friday and Saturday night at the Arena Sports Bar. Check them out, they were very good.

Throughout the show, TnT continued talking about the possibilities with tonight’s Husker radio broadcast. They wondered whether or not the radio station airing the game would break from the game to cover the President’s Congressional speech, they discussed how people have taken down their American flags and replaced them with Husker flags and they touched on a few other issues relating to the radio coverage. TnT also talked about the shot-down possibility of tonight’s game being made into a pay-per-view.

Right at the end of the show, TnT got a call from a guy who was at a local bar last night and witnessed police officers arresting several men who evidentially made terrorist threats regarding the Sears Tower. According to his story, the men were looking for a place they could get some women and when the bartender mentioned that Friday nights are a busy time for the bar, they claimed that that was too late because they were leaving for Chicago this morning to blow up the Sears Tower. A second call from the bouncer at the bar confirmed the report and offered more details on the incident. TnT wondered why it wasn’t covered on last night’s news or in the paper this morning. They got a call from someone who saw it referenced on the morning TV news and concluded that it must have happened too late last night to get on the 10pm broadcasts. I’m sure further details will be coming out about this so make sure you tune in tomorrow to hear what TnT have to say.
