Tuesday 9-25-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by talking about last night’s Monday Night Football game. It was pretty much a blowout so other than that, TnT didn’t have much to say on the subject. After one of their regular callers, Joe from Blue House checked in, TnT pondered why he was awake before 6am. Joe is self-employed and really doesn’t need to be up that early, TnT reasoned. Anyway, Joe’s call prompted TnT to play a little game called “Why are you up”, in which they let their listeners phone in and explain exactly why they were awake that early in the morning. The game degenerated quickly as most of the callers echoed the same reason, “I’ve got to go to work.”

TnT spent some time discussing honeymoons, marriages and selective morality this morning, the conversation spawned in part by a news story from Brian and also by a tale Tyler told about looking for a wedding band recently. They talked about how some women make their fiancés wait to have sex until after the wedding, even though they’ve already knocked it out, in essence, becoming a “born again virgin”. They also talked about the selective morality of some women. This tangent came about after a caller checked in and told of her 25-year-old virgin friend who won’t let a guy nail her but is more than willing to twist a guy off or nog his hog. Lots of listeners checked in throughout the show and offered up their perspectives on the variety of topics TnT had laid on the table in relation to the subject.

Unexplained quote of the day from Tyler: “I don’t think you can have a huge pie unless you’ve had sex.”

At one point in the show, Todd and ventured into the jock lounge across the hall from the studio for a quick break. While there, he noticed a white van parked outside the window that had a few men in it. Paranoia set in and Todd expressed his concerns about the van to Travis, who was preparing his sportscast. When the guys came back on the air, both Todd and Tyler seemed very paranoid about the van and what the occupants of the van were doing. Travis shouted a play-by-play from across the hall as he watched the men inside the van sitting and drinking coffee. TnT went so far as to have Donnie phone the number on the side of the van and make sure the guys in it were supposed to be at their building. It turns out that the guys were just painters who were finishing up their coffee before coming into work. Both Donnie and Brian gave TnT a hard time about being so paranoid but I don’t see how anyone can fault TnT for their worries with all the whacked crap that goes on in this world. The entire exchange, from start to finish, was very funny!

During Brian’s entertainment report, he mentioned a moment in history about the Bill of Rights. That mention spawned a discussion about exactly what the Bill of Rights says. The guys looked it up on the Internet and then went over the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, discussing each. They also went a bit further and elaborated on a few other Amendments, the ones relating to Prohibition included.

TnT spoke with UNO Maverick coach Pat Burns today. They discussed travel issues with the team, the team in general and some of the upcoming games the UNO football team is going to have. TnT are sure to have Pat Burns on again in the future so all of you Mav fans need to stay tuned to TnT’s show.

Towards the later part of the show, the conversation somehow turned into discussions about international travel. The guys took quite a few phone calls from people who had stories to share about airport security in Europe and in parts of Africa. Two callers in particular seemed to make up a majority of the discussion, as both of them kept calling back to contradict what the other one had said previously. All of the callers shared interesting aspects of international travel and some pretty good stories came to light from the segment.

Right at the end of the show, TnT got a call from a lady who currently lives in Portland but is from Omaha. She moved to Oregon a while back and somehow lost the phone number of love of her life during the move. Her man, who still resides in town didn’t have her phone number because it was not set up prior to her leaving Omaha. Long story short, the lady phoned TnT to see if they could help re-unite her and her friend. It took all of 2 minutes for the guy to check in and go on the air with TnT and the Portland lady. Todd and Tyler got some details on their relationship including the fact that they’ve known each other for about 16 years, had dated on and off and a few other minor details. During their conversation, TnT asked the guy about being “the love of her life” and he seemed to brush it off. TnT hooked the two up with each other’s phone numbers but from the sounds of the guy’s reaction to the woman’s claim of being the love of her life, a love connection didn’t seem likely.
