TnT Show 09-27-2001

Thursday 9-27-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by announcing that the World Herald was delivered to the radio station on time this morning. They also received an e-mail from a listener who explained what the problem was yesterday, a loose wire and some software troubles. His explanation sounded more like excuses to TnT than anything else, though. Chris phoned in again this morning to continue the new bit, ”5 minutes with Chris”. He talked about a few news items with TnT and then ended his call. Tune in tomorrow for another segment.

During Brian’s newscast, he detailed a story about an off duty Omaha police officer who is in trouble for an accident he was involved in with an elderly couple recently. The details were a bit strange but from what I could gather, the officer swerved to miss hitting the old people’s car and in doing so, damaged his vehicle. Using his police recourses, he found out who the couple was and then tried to get them to pay for the damage. Somehow he may or may not have managed to work up a false police report naming the old couple at fault and had a fellow officer sign off on it. He then left a message on the elderly couple’s answering machine telling them that he was going to take them to small claims court. The elderly man ended up having a heart attack and passing away because of all the stress so now there is an investigation into the police officer’s actions relating to the whole situation. TnT discussed the news story with Brian and a listener who also shared some of the details on the event. I’m sure this is not the last we will hear of this incident so stay tuned to the Todd and Tyler show to find out more.

Well, another priest got busted in Northern Iowa for twisting one off in a bathroom. As you can imagine, TnT had an excellent time discussing the story when Brian reported it. During their discussion, the guys began to sing Springstein’s “Glory Days”, but substituted their own lyrics, twisting the tune into “Glory Hole”. After some on-air brainstorming, they were able to get the lyrics down and performed the song in wonderfully. The song may end up on an upcoming TnT CD and I’m sure you’ll hear it tomorrow.

Due to the glory hole discussions, TnT received an e-mail from a guy who went to the Internet in search of glory hole etiquette. TnT read over the description of glory holes and then discussed the do’s and don’ts of glory hole usage. The e-mail made for some hilarious banter throughout the show.

Unexplained quotes of the day: Brian said, “I was dumb.” Donnie said, “I’m too sexy for your balls.”

James Dunn from the Funny Bone joined TnT this morning. He’s a Council Bluffs native who got his start performing here in town and is now traveling the comedy circuit. He joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to be a pretty funny guy. Also, during TnT’s conversation of the glory holes, James told TnT about the time he spent working for the Adult Emporium in Council Bluffs years ago. He had some interesting takes on glory holes, double dongs, whacking booths and more. Check him out at the Funny Bone all weekend as he opens up for J Medicine Hat. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

To wrap up Brian’s entertainment report, he read over a list of 10 one hit wonders. They all seemed to be from the ‘80s and TnT played clips of some of the songs as they discussed the bands mentioned. TnT wondered why there were no ‘70s bands on the list and figured that the list must have only focused on that particular decade. Their lawyer friend Michael sent them a list of one hit wonders from the ‘50s and later phoned in to talk about and sing a few of the tunes for TnT.

TnT spoke with Natasha Gregson Wagner this morning. She is the daughter of famous actress Natalie Wood as well as the stepdaughter of Robert Wagner (Number 2 in the Austin Powers movies). Natasha has been in such movies as “Lost Highway”, “High Fidelity”, “Two Girls and A Guy” and others, as well as being in several television shows. She promoted her new show called “Pasadena” that premiers on Fox this week. The guys spent some time talking about her acting career and also discussed her famous parents and some of the famous people who were hanging around her home while she grew up. She was very cool and really seemed to have a good time with TnT. Remember to check her out in “Pasadena” on Fox this week.

Todd and Tyler also interviewed Catherine Joosten this morning. They talked to her about her acting career, which oddly started when she was 40-years-old. She talked a bit about being in the theater and discussed a commercial she acted in for the Illinois lottery where she played a human sized ping pong ball. The guys then went into some of the rolls she has played on television. Catherine was “the old lady” in “The West Wing” who got killed towards the end of last season. Tyler, a huge fan of “The West Wing” discussed her time on the show and expressed how bummed out he was when her character was killed. Catherine seemed to be disappointed as well. Now, Catherine will be appearing in the show, “Providence”. Also, she will be making an appearance in the 3rd episode of the new show “Scrubs”, where she will also be killed off. She was super cool and made for an excellent interview. Look for her on TV in the shows mentioned above.

Tonight Donnie will be appearing at the American Dream with some super tall hottie stripper named Rusty Box or something. I believe he said he would be there at about 8:30pm so make sure you stop on out and see him and the she-freak.

Well, that’s the Thursday update. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. The Friday shows are always awesome so don’t miss it! Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
