TnT Show 10-30-2001

Tuesday 10-30-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with a little recap of last night’s Monday Night Football party they hosted at the Arena Sports Bar. Tyler’s Steelers won and it sounds like they may be headed to the Super Bowl this season. Also early in the show, the guys discussed the recent terrorist warning our government has issued for this week. TnT seem to think that the government knows more specific details about the threat and were a bit upset that such details haven’t been shared with the public. The new Channel 7 morning weather girl was a topic in the early portion of the show as well. TnT discussed her hotness and wondered why Channel 7 hasn’t put her on during the evening newscasts. They believe that if the TV station would do that, they’d lock in better ratings. After all, guys might rather tune in and look at a good-looking blonde woman as apposed to Jim Flowers.

Several attorneys from Cowen, Vacanty and Higgins came in this morning and spent some time discussing legal issues related to divorces and father’s rights law. They took quite a few phone calls from listeners who had legal troubles and offered up their suggestions and advice. Nearly all of the calls had something to do with divorce or a child custody issue. Needless to say, after hearing all of this morning’s calls, I’m glad I’m not going through what those poor people have to deal with.

During the attorney’s visit, one listener, Bob, even came to the studio to tell the guys his tale in person. His story was just whacked. Basically, Bob slept with a lady 12 years ago. Shortly after, they broke up and she started dating another guy. She also became pregnant right around that time but she told Bob that it wasn’t his kid. She then married the guy and recently divorced him and now she’s telling Bob that her daughter really is his. A DNA test proved it and Bob didn’t seem to mind paying for the child, as he’s been voluntarily sending money for a while, but he still feels he got shafted on the whole deal by being lied to and missing out on the first 11 years of his daughters life. That’s the kind of story the show was filled with this morning. If you’re in need of legal advice, feel free to call the fine folks at the Cowen, Vacanty and Higgins office at 345-7600.

The Lincoln newspaper reported this morning that Travis Justice has moved from Fox 42 to Omaha’s CBS affiliate, Channel 3! Congratulations Travis! Attaboy has known for a short time, as did TnT, but nobody spilled the beans until today. The guys talked with Travis about his new job and it is expected that Trav will be making his first Channel 3 broadcast tonight. Tune in Attaboy tonight and you’ll finally get to see him through a real camera instead of one of those funky View Master-style cameras he had to deal with over at his other station (allegedly).

Rob McCartney from Channel 7 phoned the guys this morning. He talked a bit about the Steelers victory last night as well as his appearance on the TnT show tomorrow as part of the annual Channel 7 Players Halloween performance. Rob had also not heard about Travis’s new job so the guys filled him in and they discussed it for a bit. Make sure to tune in tomorrow for the Channel 7 Players Halloween performance!

Towards the end of the show, Todd and Tyler spent some time discussing the Husker program. Yet another Husker was busted recently and there was no report of the arrest in the World Herald. TnT had to get the details of the arrest from the UNL student newspaper. Anyway, one of the lesser-known Husker players got busted for smoking pot in his dorm room. TnT spent some time reading e-mails from people and trying to convince Brian that the stories of Huskers in trouble are not coming about only because of the Husker’s high rankings in the polls, it’s because they recruit criminals based on the idea that most criminals are big, tough, mean guys and would make good linemen.

Well, that’s the Tuesday update. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
