Monday 10-8-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show by discussing their weekends. Todd saw “Training Day” at the theater and Tyler went to see “Serendipity”. Both gave their reactions to the movies, which seemed to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. “Serendipity” was sort of a comedic chick flick, while “Training Day” was gritty, raw and didn’t provide any comedy at all. Other than making it out to the theaters, both Todd and Tyler seemed to do very little over the weekend except watch a little football, check out some war coverage and snort some lines of Anthrax.

TnT spent some time discussing the Husker game on Saturday night. Both are of the opinion that without Eric Crouch, the Huskers have no offence at all. Travis attempted to dispute that when he came in but his argument wasn’t very convincing. They continued their discussions of football during Travis’s sportscast. In regards to the war, the guys talked about how loopy Dan Rather seemed to be yesterday as well as discussing some of the serious things related to the United State’s military actions. The guys also talked about the Pro-Life people protesting on the street corner in Springfield as well as discussing one state’s recent decision to stop using the electric chair. That decision leaves Nebraska as one of the only two remaining states to still spark up their death row thugs. The cancellation of the Emmy Awards was also a brief topic.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on how the government keeps moving the Vice President around all the time to an “undisclosed location.” It was a pretty funny commentary today and you can expect to hear more from Larry on the Todd and Tyler show later this week. Stay tuned.

TnT spent a bit of time talking about the flirtation habits of Brian and Travis late last week. The guys reintroduced the discussion this morning and had a great, lengthy conversation about it. Todd and Tyler said that they stopped flirting because it was always a “means to an end”. In other words, the purpose of flirting is to eventually end up having sex with person you are flirting with. Brian, Travis and Donnie all disagreed. They thought that you could innocently flirt with someone without wanting to sleep with them and they all tried to give examples to prove their theory. TnT didn’t understand why someone would bother to flirt with another if they weren’t trying to score.

During the flirtation discussion, one of Travis’s ex-girlfriends from high school phoned in to talk about how innocent Travis is. That amused TnT a great deal because they’ve both seen Travis in flirt mode and he comes across as anything but innocent. According to her, she and Travis did a lot of kissing but nothing more. TnT were convinced that Travis had gotten some “outside tit” but both the caller and Trav disputed that. It was during this phone call that Travis claimed to have been “young and pure” while in high school, a comment that Todd and Tyler both found very amusing and somewhat unbelievable. Shortly after the call from his ex-girlfriend, Travis disappeared from the discussion and didn’t return to the studio until his sportscast. Of course, he promptly bailed out of sight again after he concluded his report.

Todd and Tyler took countless phone calls from listeners this morning who wanted t weigh in on the flirtation discussion. Some people agreed with Donnie and Brian by saying that it was possible to have a lengthy conversation with someone at a bar while having no intention of sleeping with them. Several female callers checked in and said that they work in an all male office where there is plenty of innocent flirting that would not lead to anything sexual like TnT would think. One lady even tried to get a male co-worker on the phone to confirm her comments but he refused to talk to TnT. It seemed obvious that he wouldn’t come to the phone on the grounds that he would have to tell the actual truth, therefore proving all the comments his female co-worker had made during her call to TnT false. It was pretty funny stuff. There were also many calls from people agreeing with Todd and Tyler’s point of view. Most of those calls seemed to come from men who admitted to being snakes themselves. They seemed to agree that flirting serves no purpose, not even as validation as pointed out throughout the discussion, and unless you plan on making a move, there is no reason to flirt. The entire discussion was very interesting regardless of what side of the argument you are on.

Unexplained quote of the day from Donnie: “They should use the electric chair to kill babies.”

TnT announced the date and location for this year’s Freaker’s Ball. The event is going to take place at the Amerisports Bar on Friday, October 26^th. The Fish Heads, the Labels and Down To Here will be performing at the event and there is also going to be a costume contest. I believe first prize is $1000, second is $300 and third is $200 but I’ll get more definite details tomorrow. Speaking of costumes, there will be absolutely NO costumes of Arabians, Middle Easterners or bin Laden look-alikes allowed into the party. It’s in poor taste and we all know how Todd and Tyler will not stand for things of poor taste. Ticket prices are only $10 and can be obtained by calling the Ameristar Ticket booth.

Todd and Tyler are at the Arena Sports Bar tonight for another edition of Monday Night Football. The guys are going to have some tickets to the sold-out Neil Diamond show to give away. It is also possible that they will be giving away tickets to the upcoming wrestling event in town. There will be food and beer specials along with a pre-game field goal kicking contest so make sure to stop out this evening and hang out with the guys.
