TnT Show 10-12-2001

Friday 10-12-01

Todd and Tyler began their show this morning by reading some hate e-mail. The first letter was about 4 paragraphs long and came from someone who seemed to hate everyone involved in the show. He also called TnT racists and ranted about a few other things that didn’t make much sense. The letter was poorly written so the guys had to read and analyze it in pieces throughout the show. Later, they received an e-mail from an 18-year-old African American female listener who told TnT that she listens all the time and doesn’t think they are racist at all. The guys seemed pleased at the idea that 18-year-old black chicks dig them.

The second hate e-mail that TnT read in the first segment of the morning was pointed at their regular caller Dodge Count Duke. Duke called in after TnT mentioned what the e-mail was about and at that point TnT read the e-mail to him. Basically, the e-mailer didn’t like Duke’s voice or the negative attitude he seems to have about everything. Duke had a rather humorous little meltdown as he offered his rebuttal.

Brian’s newscast this morning was full of some pretty terrible stories. He talked about the Pit Bull attack on a 15-month-old boy where the dog bit off and ingested the child’s genitals. The dog was put down and the boy’s body parts were retrieved but unfortunately, doctors were unable to reattach everything. Later in the show, this story came up again but I’ll save that discussion for it’s very own paragraph.

On a lighter note, Brian also had a story today that involved a hummer, a hammer and some crack. The basis for this story is as follows. A gay guy met another man (a straight guy who smokes crack every day) and invites him over to watch movies. They had steaks, drank some liquor and then watched “Bib Mamma’s House”. The straight guy passed out and when he woke up, the gay guy was giving him a Diekman. The straight guy freaked out, punched the other guy off of his throck and then proceeded to beat him to death with a hammer. As you can imagine, TnT had a hay day discussing the dynamics of the story throughout much of their show.

TnT received a pleasant e-mail this morning from a 20-year-old listener named Veronica. She informed TnT that her friend Nicole was turning 20 today and that she had purchased Nicole a “Greetings From Throckmorton” CD as a gift. The e-mail also made reference to a Chinese restaurant, China Buffet that sings “Happy Birthday” where Veronica planned to take her friend this afternoon. Todd and Tyler phoned Veronica to get further details on the singing Chinese people. Veronica, still in her jammies, then explained that all of their friends think of she and Nicole as the female Todd and Tyler. She also told TnT more about the China Buffet’s “Happy Birthday” singing people as she, herself, belted out a hilarious impersonation that sounded a bit like this: “Haparee Birfday too yuuu, Haparee Birfday too yuuu”.

TnT also phoned the birthday girl Nicole while they were still speaking with Veronica. They wished Nicole a happy birthday and then the whole group of them sang “Haparee Birfday” to Nicole in the style of the China Buffet. It was awesome. Later, TnT got an e-mail from Nicole who said that she was topless and in a thong when they phoned her but because they didn’t ask what she was wearing like they did to Veronica when they first got her on the phone, Nicole didn’t mention it during the conversation.

Todd and Tyler spoke with their comedian friend Lewis Black this morning. He checked in from a parking lot in Houston. They talked a bit about the September 11th terrorist attacks on New York, where Lewis was at the time, and also discussed how comedy will and will not be affected by the tragedy. He spoke of the changes he’s noticed in airport security since the attacks, too. Lewis is going to be appearing at the Funny Bone on Sunday evening but they way to go about getting tickets is a bit convoluted. From what I can gather, Cox Communications is bringing Lewis to the Bone and in order to get tickets, you have to visit the Circuit City on Saturday to check out some sort of package deal they have for Cox’s digital technology. Todd and Tyler didn’t quite understand the whole ticket situation and it was even more amusing that Lewis didn’t know much more than TnT did. Fortunately, Lewis will be back at the Funny Bone November 8-9-10th for another appearance and those tickets will be available like all other Funny Bone tickets, by calling 493-8036.

Later in the show, TnT retold the story about the little boy who got his genitals bitten off by a pit bull. As they’ve discussed many times in the past, TnT don’t understand why people need to have dogs that are capable of doing such devastating things to children. At that point, the phone lines lit up with callers who wanted to defend pit bulls. All of the callers offered up the same old arguments by saying that it’s the way a dog is trained and treated which makes it a killer, not the breed of dog. Even a Veterinarian from Lincoln phoned in and seemed to agree with that notion. I should point out, though, that the Vet admitted to owning a pit bull himself so his point of view was obviously skewed. One of the more articulate calls came from an Animal Control Officer who has dealt with a variety of big dogs throughout his career and he agreed with TnT’s point of view. The guys continued to get calls and e-mails from people wanting to defend their deadly animals but TnT ended up shutting down the discussion. They were, after all, not going to be able to get their message across to those blinded by their love for dogs of death.

Unexplained quote of the day from Todd: “Your first Diekman from a guy should come when you’re on crack.”

Well, that’s the Friday update. Tune in on Monday from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
