TnT Show 10-24-2001

Wednesday 10-24-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by reading an inter office memo from their HR guy in Milwaukee. The e-mail was about how everyone should clean up any coffee creamer when they spill it as to avoid an anthrax scare. From there, the guys discussed how Slave Boy Jeremy has been deemed the official mail opener for the station because he’s the most expendable, ERRR, experienced. Also during the early moments of the show, Todd and Tyler discussed some things relating to the television. How “NYPD Blue” is going to handle the World Trade Center bombing as well as some local public access talk during “5 Minutes With Chris” were among them. The guys drew a close to that conversation by saying that they really need the fall TV schedule to get back on track, as well as needing more things to do in Omaha besides watching TV. Another point of interest that was brought up during the first part of the show was that gun sales have nearly tripled in Nebraska since the terrorist attacks. TnT found it amusing to think that Billy Bob Joe Dean Jr. in some small Nebraska town loaded up on shotguns for fear of Taliban ground forces storming his grain elevator.

During Brian’s newscast, he mentioned a story about the mother of Tina Brandon. That story lead TnT into a discussion about how the actor/actress that plays a real life person usually is better looking than the person they are portraying. Tyler mentioned that he thought Tina Brandon was as good looking as the actress who portrayed her, Hilary Swank. From there, as things tend to go, the conversation snowballed. TnT took calls throughout the show from listeners who wanted to share their thoughts on various actors and actresses and how they compared in the looks department to the real life people they were acting as. For the most part, the listeners agreed that the actor/actress is usually better looking than the real person but there were several instances pointed out this morning where that theory proved false.

Dr. Ed came by the studio and spent several hours hanging out with TnT today. As you can imagine, the conversation this morning was dominated by discussion of anthrax. Dr. Ed gave TnT some in-depth details on the disease, how it works, what it does and what treatments are effective. There were also plenty of regular Dr. Ed calls as well, which covered things like bloody stool samples and drunken cheek biting brothers. Yea, the guys actually got a call from a 30-year-old man who had been bitten on the face by his brother during a drunken brawl at a family gathering. It was hilarious. Also during Dr. Ed’s time with TnT, the guys took a call from a lady who said she was recently bruised at the Aerosmith concert and wanted to know if she had anything to worry about because the bruise was so large and didn’t seem to be going away. Todd and Tyler were able to coax the listener into coming to the studio so they and Dr. Ed could get a look at the bruise on her outer thigh. It was another great visit from Dr. Ed today. He’ll be returning in a few weeks so start saving up your medical questions for his next visit.

Mark Gross, Todd and Tyler’s comedy buddy, phoned the guys today. He spent some time talking with TnT about a marathon he recently ran in Columbus. The guys asked him why he ran marathons, as well as getting into some of the details about Mark’s training, which consisted mostly of drinking and smoking. TnT also talked with him about a comedy special he’s working on. Mark mentioned that they had things pretty well wrapped up until he had to eliminate a few jokes about the Middle East due to the September 11th attacks. Mark is headlining at the Funny Bone all weekend including tonight’s Z-92 Night at the Bone. Stop out tonight for Z Night or visit the Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

The guys played another Husker clip of the day which you will need to know in order to qualify for their $1000 Huskers beating Oklahoma guarantee. Although I can't reveal the contents of the clip here, I can tell you that if you heard it this morning, stay tuned to Z-92 throughout the day and listen for the audio clip of former Huskers singing
"Oklahoma". Then, just be one of the first 5 callers and you'll qualify to win Husker tickets that TnT will be giving away on Friday morning as well as the $1000 that TnT may be giving away next Monday if the Huskers do lose to Oklahoma. Make sure to tune in to TnT tomorrow so you know the content of their next Husker audio clip.

To wrap up the show, the guys read some haiku that I wrote and e-mailed to them. The poetry was a humorous look at their collective scrotum hair trimming stories from yesterday’s show. Unfortunately, I didn’t save a copy of the haiku but perhaps you’ll be able to hear it on an upcoming “Best Of” show. Stay tuned.

Tonight is another Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. As mentioned above, Mark Gross is headlining the show along with two other great comedians. Todd and Tyler will be kicking off the evening so make sure you join the guys tonight. The price is only $1 per person for a table of four. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations.

The Freaker’s Ball is taking place on Friday night at the AmeriSports Bar located in the Ameristar Casino. The Fish Heads, the Labels and Down To Here will be providing the musical entertainment. There is also going to be a costume contest. The winner will receive a $1000 prize. Second place gets $300, third place gets $200 and the best pair/group prize is $500. Tickets are only $10 and can be obtained at the Ameristar Casino or by phoning 1-800-585-3737. Also, get your tickets on-line at https://tpiweb.ticketsplus.net/detai...ME_26OCT2001” target=blank>www.ticketsplus.net.

Well, that’s the update for today. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
