TnT Show 10-29-2001

Monday 10-29-01

Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show with a little reaction to the Freaker’s Ball that took place last Friday night. It was a great turnout and the costumes were very cool. TnT discussed a few of the more memorable costumes including those who actually won the contest as well as talking a bit about their own outfits. Tyler went as a big-bellied guy in a goofy hat, Todd went as the crazy cat lady with his girlfriend playing the part of a frozen, baggied cat, Donnie and his wife went as Eric Crouch and his 2-year-old daughter and Brian went as a hunk of sod.

TnT spent some time discussing some of the football that took place over the weekend. Early in the show, they got a hate e-mail from a listener giving them crap because the listener thought they had lost their $1000 when the Huskers beat OU. TnT got a kick out of that because the listener had the details totally wrong even though TnT and others on the station said all week last week that TnT would be giving away the $1000 only if the Huskers lost to Oklahoma. After talking about it for a bit, TnT phoned the author of the e-mail and set him straight on the situation.

Todd and Tyler spent some time this morning discussing various ways of quitting one’s job. The discussion came up due to a tangent that occurred during Brian’s newscast. As the conversation continued throughout the morning, the guys also discussed ways to get back at someone who has fired you or ways to get back at a lover who has dumped you. Todd, Tyler, Donnie, Brian and even Travis all joined in on the plethora of points in the discussion and provided some awesome stories. When TnT opened up their phone lines, however, their listener’s tales just couldn’t hold up to the ones TnT and the gang had told about their own lives. TnT seemed to be looking for stories that involved careers and, more specifically, the feeling of quitting a job when you know you’ve already got a better one lined up. The listeners seemed to share tales that centered on part-time jobs when they were young (many where stories that occurred when the caller was a teenager). Even though the stories shared by callers weren’t as great as those shared by TnT and their group, there were still a few funny stories that came out of today’s discussion.

TnT phoned their promotions director, James the Giant Peach who is in Phoenix this morning. Peach, a huge Yankee fan, was able to get some tickets to the first two D-Backs/Yankee World Series games from some of his connections in Phoenix (where he used to work). So Peach flew to D-Back country, stayed with D-back fans and used D-back tickets in order to get the chance to cheer on the Yankees in the D-back stadium. TnT got a kick out of the whole situation and phoned James to discuss the Yankee losses. Even though his team had gotten their asses handed to them in the first two games, James seemed in good spirits. He talked about the seats he had, good ones for the first game, crappy for the second, and then mentioned that he probably wouldn’t be going to any of the World Series games in NYC because he had already cursed his Yankees into losing the first two games. Peach will be back tomorrow and depending on the outcome of the World Series, Todd might just win himself a case of beer from the Peach.

Z-92 has a new midday jock that made her first on-air appearance today. Her name is Jessica Doll and TnT brought her into the studio this morning to introduce her to the listeners of the Mighty Z. She filled them in on her background and joined in on the topics of the day. Todd and Tyler spent some time warning her about all of the possible snakes that would be attempting to hit on her in the near future. Even though she’s single and has no baggage (no ex-husband, no ex-freaky-boyfriends, no kids), she seemed to appreciate TnT looking out for her and warning her of which guys would be attempting to get into her pants. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly as we’ve come to find out recently, the only real snake among the Z staff that TnT had to warn Jessica about was Brian. Brian had actually already attempted to snake on her the night of the Freaker’s Ball by chatting with her for a while and then walking her to her car. She seemed surprised when she found out that Brian was married. Obviously gas fumes and having a pants full of mulch affect one’s ability to disclose that you’re married. Jessica sounded super cool this morning so make sure you stay tuned to Z after TnT’s show to catch the Baby Doll show.

TnT wrapped up this morning’s broadcast with a little Halloween talk. The Channel 7 Players are going to stop by the studio on Wednesday morning and perform for us again. In recent years, they have done several old-time style radio plays, which everyone seemed to enjoy thoroughly. This year, TnT are going to change things up a bit. Instead of performing just one long play, the guys are going to have the Channel 7 Players do small parts from various funny/scary movies such as “Young Frankenstein” and “Ghostbusters”. TnT spoke with both Rob McCartney and Julie Cornell today to make sure the pair would be attending. Rob was a definite yes but Julie said she had a prior obligation and wouldn’t be able to attend. Instead, she’s going to send in her panic-mongering weather geek of a husband, Bill “Paint It Red” Randby. Dr. Ed is also scheduled to appear along with a few others of Channel 7’s best. Tune in on Wednesday for the big show.

Todd and Tyler will be at the Arena Sports Bar tonight for another edition of Monday Night Football. Stop on out and hang with TnT and their band of merry men as they watch the Steelers take on the Titans. There might even be an appearance from Baby Doll tonight so make sure to stop on out.

Well, that’s the update for today. Tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
