TnT Show 11-02-2001

Friday 11-2-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing something from the recent Sports Illustrated magazine. There was a blurb printed about the radio call of last week’s Husker game that was aired on TV shortly afterwards. The folks at SI who heard the call wondered if what they heard was the Husker broadcast team or “A bunch of maniac Husker fans.” TnT found it humorous because all week long they have been making fun of the exact same radio call. The guys also discussed how Travis went completely Husker Homer on Channel 3 last night. Trav took the article that TnT discussed yesterday from the Pennsylvania newspaper about Crouch as a Heisman candidate and went through it over the air last night, basically spewing the same sort of comments he did on TnT’s show yesterday. The guys argued with Travis briefly about his opinions before shutting down the discussion, as they already had the exact same conversation yesterday.

Brian came in to do the news this morning even though a skid loader viciously attacked his head yesterday. He told TnT about yet another crazy cat lady who was busted in Omaha yesterday with 60+ cats in her freezer. During the newscast, a couple of listeners phoned in and corrected Brian by saying that it was a crazy cat man. One of the callers, “Question Lady” to all of you long-time listeners, said she lives just up the street from the guy and talked a bit about how whacked and stinky the guy was. To celebrate this new example of what fine, upstanding citizens Omaha has, TnT played the Fish Head’s version of “Cats in the Freezer” that will be appearing on their new CD “Hair Lip” in the new year.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on how Al Gore seems to have let himself go ever since he lost the Presidential election last year. He also talked a little baseball with TnT as well as discussing his new CD, which is supposed to be in stores already but may be trickling in at some point today. Stay tuned for more from Larry next week.

A listener phoned TnT today and mentioned that she had twin baby boys last night. She and her husband pondered a plethora of names before finally concluding that they would name their twins Todd and Tyler. TnT got a kick out of that and asked if they could arrange a meeting with the new mother and her babies. Unfortunately, she and her husband are moving to Massachusetts tomorrow so no meeting could be arranged. She did say, however, that they still have family in the area so TnT might get the chance to meet Todd and Tyler in the future around various holidays when the family will return to Omaha for visits.

Travis came in this morning and did his Lock and Box of the week. He has selected Wisconsin +2 against Iowa. His Box of the Week is Lorraine Bracco from “Goodfellas” and “The Sopranos”.

Auggie Smith and Sean Gnant from the Funny Bone stopped by the studio this morning and hung out for a while. Auggie, a ranter, spent some time going off about airline travel, terrorist fears, hate crimes, homophobia and a variety of other things that came up on the TnT show today. Sean Gnant, who’s basically become a parody of himself, joined in on the topics of the day and discussed the discomfort he feels when a man rubs his testicles upon Sean’s leg. Catch these two at the Funny Bone all weekend. Call 493-8036 for reservations.

Towards the end of the show, Todd and Tyler played a little game with their listeners. The idea behind the game was for them to call people randomly out of the phone book and whoever answered their phone by saying, “Stop calling here you filthy whore” would win a Floyd DVD and a Yankee watch. Todd manned the phones, which lead to yet another hilarious discussion about his dialing skills that had me rolling on the floor laughing at poor Todd. After attempting several businesses and homes with no success, they drew the game to a close by having one of Donnie’s buddies,“Z” pretend to be the winner. The idea for the contest was very funny and I wouldn’t be surprised if TnT try the “Stop calling here you filthy whore” phone game again in the future! Stay tuned.

Well, that’s the update for Friday’s show. Check out the Todd and Tyler show again on Monday from 5:30am to 10am and visit their web page in the afternoon for the update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
