Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about a variety of things. CBS aired the Country Music Awards last night, which Todd caught a few moments of. He reported that the Soggy Bottom Boys swept the show, but no one seemed to care because it’s country music. The guys read yet another hate e-mail from someone who thinks they are immature and need some sort of adult supervision when they do their program. There was no constructive criticism within the letter and the author was mistaken when he thought that TnT target their show to 13-year-olds. Several times throughout today’s show, the guys re-read the e-mail. Also early today, Tyler spent some time detailing his big trip to the Target last night. During that story, the guys discussed the urban sprawl Omaha is currently undergoing. Is there really a need for a Super Wal-Mart across the street from a Super Target? And at one point in the program, Todd and Tyler got into an interesting and hilarious discussion about the removal of pig butt-holes.

Unexplained quote of the day: “Don’t bowl while your on cocaine”, from Tyler. That quote lead the guys into a lengthy discussion of reasons one should not get all jacked up on the goofy powder before heading to the alley.

Randy Matson from the Funny Bone came in studio and hung out with TnT for a bit. He didn’t get the opportunity to join in on the topics of the day because the first annual Todd and Tyler Shank, Pass, and Shank contest got underway. You can see Randy opening up for Lewis Black at the Funny Bone tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday night as well as opening up for Jeff Dunham on Sunday and Monday evenings. The first annual Todd and Tyler Shank, Pass, and Shank contest took place this morning sometime around 9am. Through much of the earlier part of the show, TnT, Travis, Donnie, and Brian brainstormed ideas about the rules, possible scoring systems, boundary lines, and a plethora of other details related to the event. Once everything was settled, they opened up the phone lines and let a handful of listeners draft each of them. The first pick in the draft was Brian, followed by Travis, Donnie, Tyler, and finally, Todd “the fat kid”, who was picked last.

After the draft, the gang went outside and began the competition, which was based on the Punt, Pass, and Kick competitions of their youth. Each contestant got two tries at each type of activity, yardage being kept track of for scoring purposes. In the first event, passing, Donnie emerged victorious with a high score of 163 feet. Punting, the second event was won by the powerhouse leg of Tyler with a score of 109 feet. Attaboy Travis won the third event, the kick from a tee, as he used all of his skills as a failed, former high school quarterback to send the ball flying so far beyond the measurable line that no official yardage was given. At one point in the competition, a listener driving a yellow jeep jumped out and streaked the TnT show gang and the crowd that had gathered to watch the event. After the guys completed the competition, they returned to the studio to tally the scores and decide which morning show member won the event.

When TnT returned to the air back in their comfy, warm studio, Travis recapped the challenges one by one. Afterwards, he gave the order at which each person came in. Donnie, the youngest of all who competed ended up in last place! As you can imagine, that made TnT quite happy because now they will not have to listen to the neck brag about his athleticism for the next year. Todd and Tyler tied for 3^rd place. Brian, the #1 draft pick, came in second place and that left Attaboy Travis as the overall winner of the first annual Todd and Tyler Shank, Pass, and Shank contest. It should be noted that Travis only won the event by 5 feet but it was a win nonetheless. With Travis victorious, the listener who drafted him, Martha won tickets to the Kansas State Vs. Huskers game for Saturday. Everyone else who called in to draft a TnT show member received a parting prize, which consisted of tickets to see Lewis Black at the Funny Bone tonight.

Lewis Black will join the guys tomorrow. The guy who played “Squiggy” on “Lavern and Shirley” will also join them in studio.
