TnT Show 11-28-2001

Wednesday 11-28-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by reading over a little hate e-mail. One of the letters sent to them was from a distraught Husker fan and said that TnT should move to Colorado and stop bashing the hopes and dreams of Husker fans. The guys seemed to get a kick out of that last comment, yet they seemed to find it rather pitiful that a grown person places their “hopes and dreams” on the outcome of a game played by 18 to 22-year-old college kids. From there, TnT spent a little time reading over some Husker fan comments from the World Herald and discussing the various points made by each.

Also early in the show, Tyler mentioned that he went shopping yesterday and, at one point, was made to feel very uncomfortable by one of the bell ringing, bucket toting charity workers who stand in front of all the stores around the holidays. Tyler mentioned that he often gives money to charity and if he just so happens not to put some money in one particular bucket, it doesn’t mean that he never gives. After all, he could have visited stores all day long, donating at each. Tyler went on to say that he would actually prefer to give food or toys to the needy directly, that way he knows that his money isn’t going to go towards “administrative costs” for the various charities. As I’m sure you all remember, some huge national charities were recently in trouble for using some of the 9-11 funds for administrative costs. Anyway, the guys talked for a bit about charities and bell ringers before moving on into another holiday topic.

Brand-conscious children and Christmas gifts became a topic for a while today after Tyler mentioned doing some shopping. The gang discussed what age kids are when they become brand-conscious and whether or not it really matters to most kids. They all felt that when you’re a kid, you’d rather get 10 small presents under the tree than 1 big one because at that age, it’s not about the financial value of a gift, it’s about how many packages you get to open up. Using that logic, they went on to talk about a variety of cheaper knockoff toys that, for the same price as a brand name one, you could get several of the generic ones. It was an interesting discussion, which easily could have been mistaken for an analytical breakdown of the social dynamics of a child’s Christmas spirit. You just never know what you’re going to take away from the Todd and Tyler show each day, folks. You’ve got to tune in every day!

Over the past few days, TnT have talked about a drunk Husker fan lady they saw on TV who said that if the Colorado game had been played in Lincoln, there would have been “a 5000% difference”. After trying to get her to call yesterday through several e-mails and an on-air taunt, the lady phoned in this morning. It turns out that she is one of Travis’s first cousins. TnT joked with her about her drunken television appearance and she seemed to take it well. Before letting her go, Travis piped into the conversation and pleaded with his cousin to “stop embarrassing the family” on TV. Todd also inputted that she should run away from any TV cameras in the future, especially if she’s hammered.

TnT’s lawyer friend, musicologist and the “Grim Reaper”, Michael stopped in this morning and brought the guys some donuts to help ease the pain of the last in-studio Dr. Ed visit. He joined in on the topics of the day at various times throughout the show.

Dr. Ed came in this morning in rare form. With today being his last in-studio visit, and the knowledge that he will no longer be working for the state of Nebraska and, therefore wouldn’t really need to censor his comments as much as in the past, the Doc went on a comedic rampage. Before delving into the caller’s questions, TnT spent some time talking with Dr. Ed about his move to Tyler, TX, and his new job with Trinity Infectious Diseases. They discussed the weather of the area as well as getting a brief geographical breakdown of exactly where Tyler, TX is (it’s about an hour from Dallas).

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning. He asked the doctor about some wiener burns he has and took suggestions from the doc on how to get the sores to go away. Basically, Dr. Ed told him to quit twisting off. After receiving his free medical advice, he went into a commentary about questions you should be able to ask a date. It was a weird commentary, but a commentary nonetheless. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week progresses.

When the phone calls for Dr. Ed began to come in, a variety of medical questions were asked. Some of the more memorable topics covered during today’s show include “raging bull loads” (I’m quoting the Dr., who said it about 10 times…it was hilarious), Brundle-Fly-like finger hairs, various boner pills found in the backs of porno mags, non-dissolving dissolvable stitches, bloody ejaculations, and clitoral blood flow. Unfortunately, I can’t recall a single bloody stool question today, those calls being one of Dr. Ed’s trademarks, as far as I’m concerned. It was a great final in-studio visit to the Todd and Tyler show for Dr. Ed today. Hopefully, things will get worked out for the Dr. to join TnT from his home in Tyler, TX at some point in the future.

For the last hour of the show, the gang did a little entertainment news and scattered throughout the phone calls and discussions of other topics of the day, the guys read questions from the game “Zobmondo”. Most of the questions this morning were derived from the “Ethics” portion of the game and, for the most part, the guys strayed away from repeating their own hilarious homosexual and incest questions from yesterday’s show. There were some real thinkers from the game that were read this morning including would you rather be able to go back in time once or have any 3 questions answered. It was a great question and much like the guy’s own “would you rather give your dad or your buddy a hand zinger” question from yesterday, TnT speculated that the “back in time or 3 answers” question would be asked all over town today.

Well, that’s the big Wednesday update. It was a great show again today, even though it was the final Dr. Ed visit to the studio. Todd and Tyler are working a little behind the scenes radio magic and with any luck (a.k.a. backing from management, I assume), the guys might be able to set Dr. Ed up with a basement microphone in Texas so he can continue to participate in the TnT show every couple of weeks. I’m sure further details will be made available once things get worked out. Make sure to tune in tomorrow from 5:30am to 10am for another show and then check back here in the afternoon for a fresh update. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
