TnT Show 11-30-2001

Friday 11-30-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing the death of George Harrison of the Beatles. He died yesterday afternoon at his friend’s home in California after battling cancer for years. The guys said that they heard nothing of his death until this morning and wondered why it wasn’t reported on any news programs last night. They also wondered why the Omaha World Herald didn’t mention Harrison’s death at all in the paper today. While discussing the topic, guy from Bellevue who had been drinking all night and restarted at 4am when he heard that Harrison had died phoned the show and requested that TnT play “Here Comes The Sun” at sunrise as a tribute to the Beatle. TnT had a little fun with the drunk before moving on.

Also early in the show, TnT talked a bit about an article in the paper that related Husker losses to the Sports Illustrated jinx. The article gave a breakdown of times the Huskers graced the cover of the magazine and the outcome of the game directly following their appearance. In all cases, it seemed that the Huskers indeed lost the very next game after being on the cover of SI. That discussion lead TnT to play their newest holiday clip, “Christmas at the Crouch’s”. It was very funny and several times throughout the remainder of the show, TnT replayed the clip. If you missed it today, don’t worry. I’m sure that “Christmas at the Crouch’s” will air again.

Brian licked the grape flavoring off of a foot-long purple double dong.

Speaking of Brian, during his news report today, he did a story on 8 meth labs that were busted in Plattsmouth yesterday. TnT weren’t surprised, though, as Plattsmouth has become the meth capital of the universe lately. Brian also read over the list of the top 10 most popular baby names for the year 2001. TnT discussed the list for a while and then spent some time taking calls, reading e-mails, and talking about popular names in the African American community. They also came up with some of their own creative names such as “Cuntiqua”, which when Tyler mentioned it one time, his strategically-placed pause made my brain quiver for a moment before I busted out in laughter.

The guys did a little Radio Taste Test this morning with Brian to find out whether or not he could actually tell the difference between a Chiquita banana and another brand. As you will recall, yesterday Brian claimed to be able to tell the difference, which TnT found to be not only strange, but pretty damn silly. Tyler cut up the bananas and then Brian took the taste test challenge. Amazingly, Brian nailed the Chiquita! So, ladies and gentleman, not only does Brian mow and joke, mispronounce things constantly, walk hotties to their cars, add strangely-placed pauses in his newscasts, misuse popular phrases, sing a half beat off, bash homosexuals, do stories on dead kids and lick foot-long purple double dongs, he can tell the difference between various brands of bananas.

The drunk who phoned earlier in the show called TnT back to tell them that the sun was coming up and, again, requested them to play “Here Comes The Sun”. The guys played a little bit of it and then hung up on the drunk because, I believe he dropped an f-bomb. Shortly after the drunk’s call, TnT received a call from someone claiming to be the drunk’s friend. The caller said that the drunk was not a guy. TnT couldn’t believe it because, frankly the drunk couldn’t have sounded any more like a man if she had 6 pound testicles and a healthy amount of foreskin. Well, the drunk phoned back in right away and he was indeed a she named Mary Ann. She rambled on for a while longer, scaring everyone in the listening audience as we all tried to picture what the woman must look like, before TnT hung up on her and refused to put her on the air the other 30 times she phoned Donnie today.

TnT spoke with Creighton basketball coach Dana Altman this morning. They congratulated him on his recent wins and then discussed a story about how one of his recent opponents was wining about how Dana didn’t provide them with videotape of Creighton’s team before the played. He explained the story and talked a bit about some upcoming things in the Blue Jay’s season. TnT will be speaking with Coach Altman again in the future so stay tuned.

The guys spent a little time discussing an article in the paper that described how former Husker and Heisman trophy winner Johnny Rogers said that he talked O.J. Simpson into voting for Crouch to receive the Heisman. Todd and Tyler wondered what Rogers was thinking when he made the comment. With somewhere around 60 other former Heisman winners with votes, why did Johnny chose to tell the world he persuaded a double murderer into voting for Crouch? The guys went so far as to read through many of the names of former Heisman winners that Rogers could have mentioned, all people who have not hacked the heads off of their ex-wives and her waiter boyfriend. TnT tried to bring the whole thing up with Travis but Attaboy didn’t seem to want to have anything to do with the story or TnT’s discussions. Trav didn’t want anything to do with the foot-long purple double dong the guys threw at him either, as he flinched away from it and wouldn’t even touch the rubber penis.

Travis came in this morning and did his Lock and Box of the week. For his Lock, he chose Army plus 1 ½ over Navy. His Box for this week is Ricki Lake.

TnT’s bosses, Steve and Bruce came in this morning with a big announcement for the guys. Starting on Monday of next week, the radio station is going to replay each morning’s Todd and Tyler show in its entirety starting at 10pm. So, next Monday night at 10, they are going to air the show that took place that morning. The Friday show will be aired on Sunday nights at 10pm, however. They’re going to call it the “3rd Shift Replay”. The whole idea is very cool and Todd and Tyler seemed quite pleased with knowing that all the folks who work the overnight shift will now get to listen to their show.

J Medicine Hat stopped by the studio today and hung out for a while. He joined in on the topics of the day and even took part in the Linda Blair interview that I will detail in a moment. You can catch Medicine Hat at the Funny Bone this weekend by calling 493-8036. His shows for Saturday night are filled but he’s still got spots for the other shows, including his final X-rated show for four months that will take place on Monday night. Make sure you get out to the Bone and catch the Medicine Hat show this weekend. You won’t be disappointed.

Bonepecker came in this morning and played a few songs for TnT. Medicine Hat loves the band and I can totally see why. They sounded great on the show this morning. The band will be playing on December 22nd at, I believe, Trovado’s. I’m sure if that’s incorrect, someone will e-mail me or call the show as the date gets closer and fill us all in for sure.

The guys spoke with Linda Blair this morning. To begin the conversation, TnT asked about her relationships with Rick James and Rick Springfield. She gave them some details and that lead into discussion of the E! True Hollywood Story about Linda’s life, which she said she totally hated. Linda then talked a bit about the Lifetime documentary story on her life, which she liked much better than the E! version because Lifetime got much more correct. The gang also talked about Linda’s vegetarianism and her book called, “Going Vegan”. TnT changed the subject from vegetarianism to boobs when they mentioned to Linda that they were staring at a photo of her topless. She seemed pretty cool with it, though, and talked about the photos. The guys also brought up some of the “girls in prison” movies Linda starred in in the ‘80s but she didn’t seem to want to talk about those films. Instead, they discussed “The Exorcist”, “Roller Boogie”, and some of the other movies she’s been in. Even though the Emergency Broadcast System went off right in the middle of TnT’s interview with Linda, it was still a great segment. I believe you can hear the interview replayed at 9am on tomorrow’s Best Of show so make sure to tune in.

Todd and Tyler wrapped up this morning’s show by talking about an e-mail they received from a listener. The listener informed TnT that some church group from Topeka, KS was planning to come to Omaha next week to protest the funeral of a young gay man who recently committed suicide. The guys were totally disgusted by the thought of the religious people “dancing on the grave” of a deceased man just because of his sexual preference. They talked about the church’s hateful web site, WARNING PAGE, before deciding to call the church at (785)273-0325 and give them a hard time.

When they called, a 300-year-old bitchy lady answered the phone and hung up on them as soon as she realized TnT were “those kind of people”. The guys phoned back but the old lady wouldn’t answer the phone again so they had to leave a message. Afterwards, the guys took some phone calls from listeners who wanted to respond. Dickey Ryan checked in and said that he wanted to “beat’em with their crosses”. Following that call, the cousin of the guy who died phoned TnT to thank them for their support. Someone else called in and told TnT about a group who is apposing the church in Topeka and from the sounds of it, that group and the TnT show might try to arrange some sort of protest of the people who will be coming to Omaha next Friday who want to protest the deceased man. Make sure you tune in Monday.

Well, that’s the big Friday update. I can officially say that this is the longest update I’ve ever written (4 pages +). I hope you are all now up to speed on the TnT show. Make sure you tune in on Monday from 5:30am to 10am for another show. Also, remember the Monday TnT show will be re-aired on Monday night starting at 10pm for the first 3rd Shift Replay. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
