TnT Show 12-10-2001

Monday 12-10-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing some of the events that took place after they got off the air on Friday. As you know, Todd and Tyler and their listeners went to North High, Northwest High, and Forrest Lawn cemetery to counter-protest the Felps group from Topeka, KS who came to Omaha in an attempt to stomp on the grave of a recently deceased man that happened to be gay. After discussing their counter-protest all last week, the guys got a huge turnout for their efforts. More than 100 people joined them as they counteracted the 7-10 hateful protesters from Felps group.

The guys spent time detailing the events of the day and what they saw. They also took phone calls from listeners who joined them throughout their show. At one point, the guys read an article from the World Herald and were blatantly appalled by the lack of details presented in the paper. Their discussion of the article lead them further into talk about the terrible local news of the Felps protest and, consequently, their counter-protest. They seemed quite disappointed in most of the local TV stations, with the exception of Channel 3. Channel 7 interviewed the guys but after a question asking TnT if they were drawing unnecessary attention to the protest was answered with a, “Wouldn’t you be here even if we didn’t show up?” from one of the hosts, their segment of the interview was somehow left on the cutting room floor of Channel 7. Channel 3 actually aired interviews with TnT on their 5 and 10pm newscasts on Friday night and the guys were quite happy about that.

The one station that TnT were most disappointed with seemed to be Channel 6, who went totally “milk toast” in their coverage of the event. According to Tyler, John Knicely’s comments about the protest were pretty bad. I believe, “Thank you Channel 6. They’re horrible, horrible”, is the phrase uttered at some point during TnT’s discussion of the coverage. There may have also been a comment about “the worst writing ever” mentioned in the same breath. The comment made by the news anchor referring to the Felps people was something like, “…they were here to voice their concerns over a young man’s lifestyle.” Well that majorly pissed the guys off. They were upset that the TV station didn’t talk about the hate monger mentality of the Felps group, specifically their hatred towards homosexuals and, as it became clear to TnT as they witnessed the protest, the Felps group’s hatred towards America in general (yes, the Topeka religious group was stomping all over the American flag during their protests). TnT discussed the protest with their listeners as related phone calls came in throughout the remainder of the show.

Early this morning TnT replayed the audio from last year’s Governor visit that declared December 14th Todd and Tyler day. With the anniversary of the date approaching, they talked about their memories from last year’s landmark event. This year, the guys are sure to celebrate another Todd and Tyler day in style. Make sure you help them celebrate this historic event on Friday morning by tuning in.

Travis was back this morning from New York City, where he covered the Heisman stuff for Channel 3. He talked a little bit about his trip. Even though he didn’t get much sleep and seemed pretty busy in New York, he did get pretty close to Ground Zero and reported to TnT what he saw. Attaboy was also able to spend two hours in a Time Square coffee shop eating cheesecake. The guys gave him a hard time about how he chose to spend his free time throughout the remainder of the show.

With Travis back in studio and lots of Husker related news; the sports report this morning was quite full. Until Travis arrived, Todd and Tyler managed to only briefly talk about the BCS helping the Huskers back into the National Championship bowl game and Eric Crouch winning the Heisman. During Trav’s sports, the guys spent some time talking about the problems with the BCS, the various games that shouldn’t have mattered to Husker fans but did because of the BCS as well as talking about Crouch’s new trophy. After sports was wrapped up, TnT shut down the Husker talk completely and moved the show along at a very enjoyable pace, as they weren’t going to let the Husker Virus infect today’s show.

Larry the Cable Guy phoned in today and delivered a commentary on the Taliban leader who’s being a big pussy and trying to negotiate a Taliban surrender in order to save his own butt. Tune in as the week progresses for more from Larry.

Last week, the guys got into a discussion about whether or not they could ever date someone who made a 6-figure salary. Z-92 weekender Lynn Taylor e-mailed the guys after reading my Friday update and she gave them her opinions on the discussion. She also phoned in and spoke to the guys. Unfortunately, from what I heard this morning, Lynn misinterpreted my Friday update. Somehow she was under the impression that I said Todd and Tyler want their women home “barefoot and pregnant”, when in reality I only mentioned exactly what TnT said on the air Friday, they wouldn’t date a 6-figure income woman because she would be too busy and they consider themselves too high maintenance for a super busy woman. TnT had to re-explain their thoughts on the subject to Lynn, their listeners and I believe me (although only due to the Creed-blurred interpretation of Lynn). The reintroduction of the topic lead to some phone calls from female listeners who wanted to talk with TnT about their feelings towards women with a high salary. Some of them were under the impression that TnT felt they couldn’t date a woman who earned more than them because of issues with insecurity. TnT re-explained their position again and then took some calls from men whose ladies earn more than them. Most of those guys didn’t seem to have insecurity issues and, frankly they seemed to like their women being the breadwinner. It allowed them to do other things, such as go to college.

TnT spoke with comedian Dom Irrera this morning, after Donnie woke him up because Dom’s girlfriend didn’t set his alarm for him. He’s coming into town to play the http://www.funnyboneomaha.com/” target=blank>Funny Bone this week, including a Z-92 Night at the Bone that will take place with Todd and Tyler on Thursday evening. For 4 years Dom did a sports talk show on Comedy Central so Todd and Tyler spent most of their time with Dom this morning discussing football. He will be joining TnT in studio late in the week so tune in. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations to see his show.

Tyler and Promotions Director James “the Giant Peach” took their ladies out to eat on Saturday night and while at dinner, they were interrupted by a table full of middle-aged to old Husker fan ladies. James came in studio and he and Tyler told the story of their interruption. During their dinner, the ladies at the table near them had just heard that Crouch won the Heisman and felt it necessary to tell everyone around them, as if they cared. Neither James nor Tyler are from here and neither could give a rat’s ass about Husker football but the ladies at the table didn’t seem to understand. Tyler and James discussed the reaction of the ladies to their own reactions of the news the Husker fans had delivered during their dinner.

Over the weekend, Todd’s girlfriend visited the Fantasies convenience store on 156th and Harrison Street, one of the locations you can pick up your http://www.z92.com/z_stuff/zstuff.htm” target=blank>Todd and Tyler Z-92 America Rocks bumper stickers. While there, she commented on the bumper sticker and the guy behind the counter said something about it looking better if the TnT logo was covered up. TnT seemed a bit upset that someone at the store who is selling their merchandise and is getting promoted on the station would say such a thing to customers. After talking about it for a while, Promotions Director James “the Giant Peach” came back in the studio and pointed out that TnT don’t have any problems with Fantasies, they were just upset at the one employee. It was pretty funny to hear Peach freaking out and trying to avoid a Todd and Tyler induced meeting later in the day. Remember to visit your local Fantasies location and pick yourself up a new Todd and Tyler Z-92 America Rocks bumper sticker!

Today is the beginning of the Stuff the Chub Christmas donation campaign at the radio station. D J Pussy Puss and Slave Boy Zack will be at Hobbytown USA at 132nd and Maple Street from 4 to 6pm this afternoon collecting new toys and cash donations for this year’s event. The pair will also be collecting tomorrow morning during the Todd and Tyler show. The location for tomorrow’s drop-off spot will be announced in the morning so make sure you tune in.

Well, that’s the update for Monday. Tune in this evening at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay. Tomorrow at 5:30am Todd and Tyler will be back on the air with the big Tuesday edition of their show, which sounds like it will be quite busy. Make sure to check back here in the afternoon for the daily update at some point on Tuesday if you happen to miss any of the TnT show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
