TnT Show 12-13-2001

Thursday 12-13-01

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing last night’s Creighton game. The Blue Jays beat the Huskers as TnT thought they would. Travis did the play-by-play for the game and both Todd and Tyler caught bits and pieces of his performance. As they talked about Trav’s coverage, they each reflected on their own beginnings in sports broadcasting back when they were in high school and college and shared some related stories. Local news was a topic that came up this morning as both Todd and Tyler expressed their disgust with it. They wondered why anyone even bothers to tune in to local TV because the weathermen are constantly wrong and stories about the Huskers take precedence over real news.

DJ Pussy Puss was at the corner of 90th and Maple Street all morning collecting toys and cash for Stuff the Chub. Throughout the show, Pussy checked in with TnT to give a progress report on the collections. During one of the calls, the guys concluded that DJ Pussy Puss is the most ethnic guy they know next to Black Tony. They later revised their statement and said that DJ Pussy Puss is even more black than Black Tony so now he’s definitely the most ethnic guy they know.

Late in the show yesterday, Todd mentioned a Christmas gift he received from his sister. She sent him a package of organic pancake mix and a little bottle of syrup. This morning the guys reintroduced the topic of “worst gift ever” and the phones lit up. Throughout the remainder of the show, listeners checked in with stories about the terrible gifts they received such as a set of glasses that were actually a recycled wedding gift, one guy got a stuffed pink pig which turned out to be a freebee giveaway, many women received various automotive-related gifts that they really didn’t want, Donnie talked about getting an anti-freeze tester when he was twelve and so on. It was really funny to hear some of the twisted things people tried to pass off as gifts to their family and friends and I’m sure you can all relate to receiving a not-so-great gift yourself at one point or another.

TnT spoke to Chad from Ticket Express today. With the Huskers now playing in the National Championship game, he’s been a busy guy. The guys talked about Chad’s travel plans, the Huskers and how they got into the game as well as the availability of tickets. Feel free to phone Ticket Express at 398-1999 for all of your ticket needs.

As mentioned earlier, Travis did the play-by-play of the Creighton game that aired on Channel 3. When he came in this morning, TnT spent some time talking with him about it. Travis seemed pleased with the way things turned out and gave the guys his impressions of the overall event and his performance. Many callers checked in to prop Travis up on the fine job he did too. At one point, though, Travis began to wonder. If he was getting so many calls from people who seemed surprised that he did so well, what were those callers actually expecting? It was a pretty funny moment as Travis uttered, “What, did you people expect me to suck?” Travis will be doing the play-by-play on one more televised Creighton game this year. Stay tuned for information on when that will air so you can catch him.

During one of Brian’s newscasts, he mentioned a story about a college president got in trouble for referring to the marching band’s act as “faggot dancing”. After some humorous discussion about the guy’s comments, TnT and the gang somehow ended up in song. I don’t know who started it but I’m glad they did. During the talk, someone began to sing “Faggot Dancing” to the tune of a Bee Gee’s song. After a couple of minutes, Todd, Tyler, Donnie and Brian in unison were singing in the high-pitched Bee Gee’s style. Donnie pulled the clip from the tape and placed it in Tyler’s computer so throughout the remainder of the show, spontaneous bursts of the “Zee Gee’s” filled the airwaves of Omaha.

Tammy Pescatelli and Dom Irrera from the Funny Bone came in this morning and hung out with TnT for a while. Dom spent some time talking with TnT about his career, including quite a variety of television shows he has appeared on yet never seen. He talked a little bit about his girlfriend as well. Dom and Tammy hung out with TnT and joined in on the topics of the day and both seemed to have a pretty good time with TnT. Dom will be back in studio tomorrow too. You can catch both Dom and Tammy at the Funny Bone tonight for Z-92 night as well as on Friday and Saturday night. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations to see the show. You won’t be disappointed.

Remember that tonight is another Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. To get in this evening, it’s $2 a person and each person should bring a small toy to Stuff the Chub with. It is quite likely that Todd and Tyler will be shooting Fat Freddy meat snacks into the audience using a cross bow so make sure you bring your protective eyewear to the club tonight.

That’s the big Thursday update. Tune in this evening at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and then rejoin TnT on the air tomorrow morning from 5:30am to 10am. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
