TnT Show 12-18-2001

Tuesday 12-18-01

Todd and Tyler began their show this morning reading an e-mail from a listener who said, “Donnie and Brian are dumb as stones”. They seemed to get a kick out of the e-mailer’s analysis of the two and mentioned the phrase several times when needed throughout the show. An audio clip of the bottle throwing Cleveland fans made it’s debut this morning and was used countless times throughout today’s program as bad callers phoned in. TnT also found out that their America Rocks gear, available at all K-Mart locations, was manufactured in Bangladesh. They spent a moment trying to figure out where geographically Bangladesh was and after several conflicting reports from callers, they got it’s Travel Bangladesh, Bangladesh Hotels, Flights and more | Bangladesh.com target=blank>actual location. The guys really didn’t mind that their gear was made somewhere other than the US because it’s good, quality stuff. Also early in the show, TnT got a call from a very sleepy Kevin who provided them with his annual Ghetto Christmas call.

TnT brought Donnie in this morning to tell the story about how his wife recently had a little accident. She was backing their car out of the two-stall garage and somehow got one of the side mirrors caught on the garage wall, tearing the mirror off. From there, TnT opened up the phone lines to allow their listeners to share similar stories. After several calls, they changed the focus of their discussion specifically to garage/garage door mishaps. TnT also talked about how women have the ability to turn things around after they’ve done something wrong in order to justify them being mad at their man, who is supposed to be mad at them (wow, my brain just melted for a second). Throughout the remainder of the show, calls came in and for most of them, the guys had to play the Steve Martin ”have a point” sound effect.

TnT spoke with their old buddy Greg Peterson today. You may remember him from Channel 7, where he left 6 years ago to be a sports guy in St. Louis. Anyway, Channel 3 is bringing Greg back to town and hired him as their new lead anchor for the Channel 3 news. He talked about his time in St. Louis and his return to Omaha. TnT were quite pleased to have Greg back in town. You will be able to see him on Channel 3 starting with their coverage of the Rose Bowl.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on the bottle throwers in Cleveland. Before he began, Larry the Cable Smoker performed one more gay Christmas carol for Cable Guy. Larry will be in town on December 30 and 31 at the Funny Bone. Feel free to visit Larry’s web site at http://www.larrythecableguy.com” target=blank>www.larrythecableguy.com. Make sure to tune in tomorrow for the final Larry the Cable Guy call to the Todd and Tyler show of 2001.

Storm and Donette of Ivory Star came in this morning. They each talked a little bit about what they’re doing now. Storm is rocking, well country rocking in Texas somewhere and Donette has been writing songs and getting into the financial details of the movie industry out in Hollywood. They performed “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and nailed both of them. You can catch Ivory Star all over this area in the next few weeks. For full details of their performances visit their web site, http://www.ivorystar.com” target=blank>www.ivorystar.com.

TnT’s little friend Brian joined TnT towards the end of the show and brought the guys some food. He talked with TnT about Tammy Pescatelli’s “midget” bit that she does during her comedy act and Brian said he really didn’t mind it. During his visit the guys wrapped up their show by recapping things they had talked about earlier as well as bringing up a few other tangent topics. They discussed a little about the Huskers and college football, as well as replaying the fixed Christmas at the Crouches clip. They mentioned that the Bob and Tom show is going to get blasted off the air quite soon, one of about 15 morning shows TnT have successfully conquered since taking to the Omaha airwaves in the early 90’s. The guys also got a call from a moron saying that TnT were racist because they made jokes about Eric Crouch and didn’t make jokes about any black players. TnT refuted that and said that they are equal opportunity offenders, making fun of anyone about anything regardless of race. They then concluded the show by doing some trained counseling for a lady named Becky who is divorced and pregnant yet still lives with her crank head ex-husband. The guys tried to talk her into leaving him and it sounded like she was bright enough to comprehend their pleas for her safety and the safety of her children. She promised to call back if/when she does leave him.

Well, that’s the update for today. If you missed it, you can catch this morning’s show again airing at 10pm during the 3rd Shift Replay. Tune in tomorrow for the final TnT show of 2001, where the guys will be joined in studio by the Fish Heads. It should be a great show and a wonderful way to kickoff the holiday season. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
