TnT Show 01-22-2002

Tuesday 1-22-02

Todd and Tyler started off this morning by discussing the song they played prior to the beginning of the show. The song is on the soundtrack to the new Sean Penn movie, “I Am Sam”, which is actually made up of a bunch of Beetles tunes covered by other artists. TnT discussed the movie, which will be released soon, and pointed out that on one of the commercials they saw, a critic’s blurb said that Sean Penn was funny in the movie. Well, Penn is playing a mentally challenged man and TnT wondered if it was PC to consider a Corky funny now. They also talked about the trend of non-Corky actors playing Corkys and how they tend to get nominations for various awards as well as wondering if the actor who actually played Corky was pissed that a regular guy got the roll of a mentally challenged character.

Other points of interest from early in the show included some discussion of several “Morons In The Grandstand” submissions from the World Herald. The geography of the Todd and Tyler Traveling Dodge Ball All Star schedule was analyzed for a while before TnT moved into talk about how James the Giant Peach and his wife just found out the sex of their baby, a little girl. Donnie called the unborn baby “easy” and then said, “She might not be hot”. It was really, really creepy. TnT then got into a discussion about saving money at grocery stores by using coupons and value cards. The guys debated difference between cheap ass bag cereal and name brand box cereal with Donnie for a while, concluding that “You’ve got to have the box”. During the money saving discussion, we found out that Tyler subscribes to the theory that the FBI or various other Men In Black-like organizations are checking out everyone’s value card purchases and tracking what they eat and drink as part of a large, international conspiracy designed to bring down Capitalism and place Gabe Kaplan in power of the United States.

TnT continued discussion of yesterday’s http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,43457,00.html” target=blank>Wayne Gimp story throughout today’s program. Early on, the guys brainstormed some lyrics to “Chevy Van” for their rendition of “Roger Van”, the name of the floral shop owner who was busted for holding a Texas man hostage as his sexual gimp for 9 days. They spent about an hour coming up with new words to the song and testing out how they fit with the music. The guys said that they plan on recording the song this afternoon and should have it produced and ready to air in it’s completed form on tomorrow’s show so make sure to tune in.

Brian came in this morning and provided a news and entertainment report, which included two wedding announcements, one of which was his cousins. He also read over a top 10 list from AskMen.com - Free Men's Online Magazine that detailed how a man can tell if his woman is high maintenance. Most of the points on the top 10 list seemed to be variations of the same few basic concepts. The guys discussed briefly whether or not the list could be turned around to focus on high maintenance guys but didn’t dwell on that variation of the topic for long.

Todd and his girlfriend are thinking about buying a big dog together and somehow it came up when Travis came in to do sports. Travis tried to talk him out of it and said that he should go for a smaller dog due to the number of kids Todd and his girlfriend have in the house (6). Tyler agreed with Travis because, frankly, big dogs of any kind seem to scare the hell out of him. They all discussed big dogs vs. little dogs for a bit before getting into another story from Donnie about how his dad, Cups, shot the ass off of one of Donnie’s childhood dogs for, apparently, no reason whatsoever.

As the show progressed, TnT continued discussion of the Wayne Gimp, the logistics of gimpdom and further speculation on the details of the story, and they tossed around a few other lyrical ideas for their “Roger Van” song. Joe from Blue House came in and hung out with the guys for a while, too.

Todd and Tyler wrapped up this morning’s program with some discussion of their first dodge ball game of the season taking place on Thursday night at Elmwood-Murdock. So far, TnT haven’t gotten many calls from people who will be either attending the game or participating in it. They seemed a bit worried that there won’t be many people showing up, considering the lack of smack and/or love from the phone lines so far. After mentioning it, they started to get some phone calls from Elmwood-Murdock people who said they would be attending the game and were looking forward to it, one call from a guy who helped to put the whole game together. As the game draws nearer, smack and love from Elmwood-Murdock is sure to come.

That’s all for the Tuesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and rejoin Todd and Tyler for another show tomorrow morning at 5:30am. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
